Just as a clearing point, a fight with a significant other is a stressor point that pushes someone over the edge. There is likely much more behind it. And it is fairly easy for people to get to that point and not have people notice so I'm not all that surprised. It is a sad event but there really isn't much that they could do to change it. Looking back it is easy to say what should have been done but in those situations, it isn't so clear.

i know, it's just hard for me to fathom because in my own experience of having severely depressed roommates and friends...they've had people notice and get them help before anything else could happen. But of course that is all in hindsight...and that's all we can do now is speculate in hindsight, just like I don't understand the university's lack of reaction early in the morning. I don't know, I just hope that if any kind of shooting were to happen at Davis that the university would let me know ASAP regardless of the extent and at least give me the decision as to whether or not I wanted to go to campus or classes for the day. But it's the same thing...at this point its all hindsight...

same, I've heard V Tech is just like Penn State in many ways..I dont care if you're little gf broke your heart. I have no sympathy and I hope he's burning in the lowest depths of hell.

yeah, like i said i can see it being a lot like davis too, just in terms of campus environment, size, etc. its scary. i don't think i'd be having exactly the same reaction if i were at LMU because the schools don't seem so similar. but in reality, we're all colleges and we're all college students. and let's face it, college students can go crazy. my dad's freshman year at purdue they stopped having an Engineering majors only dorm because the students were loners and made a suicide pact with each other. but at least they didn't take out 32 other lives with their own...
