Life Goes On

I can't believe it but I recently found out my high school graduating class is planning it's 30yr reunion this year! I so clearly remember my high school days, how could it be possible that it's been 30yrs since I've graduated?? Where did the time go? I can't believe that I could be as old as I am. (48 as of my birthday this past March) I looked ( Read more... )

Unfortunately I can't go. I'm better than I was when this last flare was at it's worst, but overall I'm still way to sick to be up to something like that. But some good has come out of it, I've gotten in touch with some people on the reunion committee who happen to have been good friends of mine in high school. We're e-mailing back and forth and they plan to visit me before long. So it's good even though I can't go.

Me too! It may sound corny but I swear one of the things that makes me happiest in life these days is reading about positive things that happen to my LJ friends. I can smile all day when I read about something good happening in the life of one of them. :-)

That's so neat your 30 year is coming up! Do you think you might be able to attend? I'm sure it would be fun to see your old friends. I went with my husband to his 20 year reunion back in 2000 (he's a bit older than I am at 43) It was a great time! I will say a prayer that you'll be able to go to yours! :)

I love that icon too! Did you make it, or can I honestly swipe it from someplace?

No, I didn't make it. Got permission to swipe it from somebody but can't remember who (since they didn't mind me not crediting...) You can swipe it from me and take a chance! :)

It is, isn't it? And I've been able to get in touch with some old friends from high school that are on the reunion committee, so that's cool too. It'll be nice to rekindle old relationships. But despite all that you and I have developed a bond that goes so deep I don't think anything will ever touch it. Speaking of which, it's about time for another letter, me thinks. :-)

Here's to hoping you're as up to going as you want to be. Perhaps you could contact whoever is in charge of the reunion, and a small contingent of your class reunion could come to see you? Just because you're not physically able to participate, doesn't mean you shouldn't have a *little* fun! :) Or, how's this??? See if you can set up an interactive computer/cam set-up at the reunion site, and you can talk to them through a computer cam??? Then you could see and people could talk to you, but you wouldn't be exposed to anything that could make you more ill! All it takes is a laptop, a microphone, and a cam (and the drivers to run it all.) That might even work! I'm sure someone in your graduating class has that kind of computer savvy and equipment!

I can always count on you for good ideas! And that's an amazing one! The little get-togethers are actually being planned for not too long from now, but I hadn't even come close to thinking about the camera idea. We have from between now and October 7-8th to figure something like that out. Might just be something doable!

It's incredible how quickly time flies... My 20 yr is ocming up in a ocuple of years and I swear I feel the same as I did in high school - just a little wiser :)

Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school?

I'm on the same page as you-I feel the same way I did in high school, just a bit wiser. I have one girlfriend from high school that I am still close to. She was a year behind me, but married a guy from my class. Then she moved into an apartment building where my mother and grandmother shared an apartment at the time. So we've kept in touch with each other all through these years, shared our children growing up, and all the good along with the bad. I got in touch with the reunion committee to see about getting a copy of the bio book they're gonna give out to people who attend and ended up getting in touch with some old friends that way. We've been trading e-mails, and one of them is a minister who works at the Juvenile Hall in Riverside, CA who is working on a prayer circle for me and planning to visit me. It's been a great thing even though I can't attend. :-)
