It feels as though a red hot poker is being thrust through my stomach and goes all the way through me and comes out my back. The pain got ( Read more... )

Can you go halfway? Meaning, can you just call your doctor and ask about it, without having to go in to see him or her? When I do that, I don't get charged a co-pay; I'm guessing money is part of your worries, here.

Actually money isn't the problem. We are constantly low on money but because I'm considered totally disabled I've been on MediCare since I was 39 years old. It usually pays for my doctor visits 100%, but if it doesn't I qualify for the state to pick up the rest because I am low income. My husbands health care is another story though, he has to pay cash. The reason I put off Dr. visits is because it's such an ordeal for me to get there. It's just so hard to physically get out of the house and get to the van. Then getting in and out of the van to/from my wheelchair isn't easy either. So I tend to put off appt's unless I'm sure I need to go. I think I will call on Monday and at least get their oppinion.

i would definitely call the doctor and see what he says. do you have any sort of health advice line? where you can call and they evaluate whether or not you should go in and see a doctor? it sounded horrible :( i hope you don't go through it again

There's no health line to call and get that kind of advice from here. If I call the local hospital ER they will always say to come in just to be sure. My best bet is to call my own doctor on Monday and see what she says. She'll tell me whether or not she thinks it's something I need to be seen for or if it was something I don't have to be too concerned about. And thanks for hoping I don't have it again-it was HORRIBLE!
