Oh, it was a terrible rant and I'm a mean-spirited woman. I am!
I think what bothers me most is this idea that there are "women's issues" at all, this special separate category of things that all women -- and only women -- are supposed to be concerned about. I'll fight anything that reinforces the idea of a Woman Only domain. Partly this is because that domain is still, even now, almost entirely about body-image and childcare. See also the keywords in the flyer: "perfection" and "duty". What else could that possibly mean but even yet still more talk about how hard it is to deal with not having the perfect body and how tiring it is to raise kids?
I wish I could be as open-minded as you are, but I can't believe that any living soccer mom hasn't heard all of this already. But a mixed-group discussion of child-care and body-image issues? Men and women talking about those things together? *That* would be really interesting.
