Men definitely struggle with self-esteem. Matt also wants to lose some pounds, but he's struggling not only with the physical, but also with the mental impact of being a new grad of a prestigious university degree program who is just. not. getting. HIRED. because everyone wants tons of experience. It's making him clinically depressed - affecting his health, requiring talks with a therapist, etc. ... so needless to say the weight is taking a backseat to other issues he needs to fix first.
Good luck. I already have gym memberships (school and work) - I just keep getting clobbered with homework/illness/injury when I plan to use them. No more excuses though - it's time! And yeah, all I see is tummy paunch in the mirror, so I sympathize with that.

I can certainly identify with the challenge of seeing only the things you don't like about your body. It ain't fun.
