you mentioned that the writing process can get hairy, but this is ridiculous!!!
You should definitely say something about this to your students... especially those with majors with a lot of writing. Even if it's on the last day of school (and not necessarily at the beginning of the course), I think it will give them some inspiration during those late nights in geisel ;-D
