My First Metablog Posting...aww, how sweet.

I have made it clear that participating in this medium is new endeavor for me and perhaps an experimental one as well. I have enjoyed poking around, reading other people's blogs and being forwarded good stuff from friends. I feel like I have begun to get a sense of the range of uses, conventions and audience. The machine learning blog I mentioned at Soup Night was hunch.net. Might be a tad dry (it is to me, and I kinda know what he's talking about), but it's probably the most well followed in the field.

Thanks. I hoped you'd weigh in on this. You are right the substance of his posts are meaningless to me, but his use of language is interesting. Also his post on papers will be worth a second look. If you find others send them my way.

If you search for "machine learning blog" there are a lot of hits. Hunch.net is the most famous, and the author John Langford is quite well known, but a lot of the others seem to do more with interesting musings, points of interest, and humor (well, geek humor) but are usually from people I haven't heard of. I'll ask Eric though - he follows such things more than I do. And you may want to check out scienceblogs.com for a bit of a sampling (I just stumbled on it, I can't vouch for it).
