Going off on manipulation--what about Hermione casting that Confounding spell on what's his name there so that Ron got the Keeper position again? If that isn't manipulation, then I don't know what is.
Not to mention what those two were doing to one another instead of just saying "I like you! Shag me!" y'know?

Yep. As I said, though, because they were being stupid and petty, I'm not quite as concerned by it. It's still disturbing, but Harry did call Hermione out for it; there's some visible disapproval of it. Not very much, but Harry and Hermione both recognize that it's wrong. And as for the rest of the romantic interplay - Harry's frustrated by being drawn into the middle of it again.
Although Ron and Hermione have a pretty twisted relationship, and Rowling seems to approve of that - different issue, though.
