I used to live a couple blocks from there. He'll end up at J.J. Grimsby's, I'm sure. Then he'll say in groundhogian, "This used ta be where Jerry Jingle's was." Dang if they don't all say it.

Tree roots indeed. Those are exposed roots from a tree in Wimberly, Texas. I think it's a live oak, at least some kind of oak.

We had one of his relations visiting our yard in Melrose a few years ago and all it ate were weeds. Then again we weren't growing any fruit or veg.
