Unwound!

Woo! I feel so totally and completely relaxed compared to where I was a few hours ago. Sitting at my computer earlier this evening, I happened to reach back and pinch my shoulder muscles, suddenly realizing that I was carrying a great deal of tension there without realizing it consciously. It felt great to work on this one spot on my shoulder, ( Read more... )

Glad it worked out that C. was available to help--sounds like you really needed it. It is interesting how easy it is to get distracted from our own selves.

Glad to know this isn't unusual - sweeties have been bemoaning it but by the time I do practice logs, student clinic and fieldwork massages, I'm exhausted.

I am fortunate in that she actually prefers to get her massage from me, so I can trade on that. But we didn't discover that until some time after we'd started dating - actually, she taught me most of what I know (at least what's useful).
And I did feel a little strange about singing her praises, that someone might think I was just trying to promote her work. But I didn't want to self-censor for fear of that, and dammit it's true (though I must admit I haven't gotten massage from that many people in my life).

That sounds lovely! Go Cee go!

And thanks for reminding me that self-treatment might make me feel better. Funny, I kind of fix whatever obvious thing is wrong in the course of sitting at the computer all day, but when I get sick-and-tense, I just don't think of it as often. Muddy head.

Yeah, I think that's exactly it. And since my life has been relatively low-stress lately, I certainly wasn't looking for physical symptoms of stress.
I could have done more work on myself, but there are spots that I would never be able to work on effectively.
Actually, I kind of miss doing massage on other people, too. If you were closer, I'd offer to help on an ad-hoc basis.

Sounds wonderful! Self care is so important. And cee, well, she's just magic in the form of hands and smile :)

The cobbler's children go barefoot, and the doctor's wife dies young. Totally. Steve and I work this out by my bartering with another MT who then massages Steve as his part of the barter.

Hee! I hadn't heard these sayings before.
OH! And I found your hat (I assume it's yours) in my van. Apparently I'm not good enough at communication to remember to email you in the past week.
