Pittbull in need of help!

Last Thursday (11 September) ladymerrydeath and I were driving to work and shortly after leaving her place, we noticed a dog in the road wandering around and looking lost. Being both animal lovers, we pulled over and the dog wandered our way. Upon our getting out of the car, the tired little guy promptly curled into our legs and cuddled. He had a nasty looking ( Read more... )

a lot of people won't send money to a private paypal and neither will organizations.

The way I found to get help in situations like this is ask the vet your account number or some such and post the vet's name and number along with your account info so that people can call the vet and actually make sure that money is going for the animal other than in your pocket.

People are parinoid now-a-days.

I would say also post this on: http://community.livejournal.com/atlanimalrescue/profile

Thank you for the tip. The vet is letting payments be made, so I will get all that info when I go to pick him up on Monday (1st stage heartworm treatment).

Do you have a complete list of the meds that Napocles will need after he leaves the vet(other than Heartworm and the anti-flea meds). Run it past Jonsey to make sure everything is necessary and that there are not cheaper alternatives that would do the same. Just don't tell your vet where you got the veterinarian advice:P They get touchy about that.

Your other LJ friends suggestion to post the address, phone number and patient case file number is a good idea. Many organizations and donors will pay direct to the bill as I learned from working at the Animal Clinic. We were told anyone could pay, we just couldn't realease any private information:)

Try also Aiding and A Petting - http://aidingandapetting.com/

AARF (Atlanta Area Rescue Friends) - http://www.aarfatlanta.org/

Bull 911 - http://www.bull911.com/pitbullrescue.php also has a good list of folks to try.

The clinic I work at does alot of work with Pits. I doubt we would be any cheaper to treat him but I could run the numbers and see if you would like.

Luckily the vet is giving us a rescue discount for the heartworm treatment, but it's still not cheap. He also gave us a hint for the neutering (Humane Society cert) and he *might* be willing to give a wee bit of discount for the shots. Even with that, it's all still a little north of the $1000 estimate. AARF has helped by providing a temporary crate, leash and collar for him (the ones I have won't handle him). A few people have donated and that is helping considerably.
