I just got accepted into college. UD, to be precise. I did a super-early-action thing with them in the spring of last year, but I still didn’t know I’d be hearing back from them so soon

Hmm... just one question about UD... what are you planning on majoring in? I was accepted into UD on full scholarship (I imagine you will be too, if you're pretty good academically or are a National Merit Finalist/Semi-Finalist), but I turned them down because they're lousy at Physics. And while I liked the professors there, it seemed like classes moved really slowly because students would keep asking the professor to repeat what he had just said or asked obvious questions. Especially after going to UNT for two years, where teachers just plow forward and a kid who asked those questions would be laughed out of the classroom, it was a startling change of pace (on the plus side, the professors really care about the kids, enough to make sure they understand all the material). Anyway, if you think UD is for you then that's wonderful and I don't mean to discourage you, just wanted to make sure, ya know.
Thanks for the information, but I'm choosing UD because of its English and history programs. I don't plan to major in any of the sciences, so I'm not concerned about the Physics program being a little off. (I'd probably be the one asking the obvious questions...thinking scientifically can sometimes be hard for me.) I've been researching UD for a year now, and I'm sure this is the best in-state (it's a tuition thing) fit for me.
You got a full scholarship? Well, I did make the first cut for National Merit, though I don't know about the final results yet. Still, this is reassuring. I'm hoping for some form of scholarship.
Sounds great, then! I hope I didn't sound too negative... I really did like UD, and the people and teachers there were by far the nicest and most accomodating of all the colleges I visited. If I were majoring in Theology or anything to do with Western Civilizations I'd go there in a heartbeat (semester in Rome!).
Does that make you a semi-finalist? (Oh gosh, I went through this only last year and I don't remember. *is dork*) If you do well academically, I'm sure you'll get at least some scholarship. (Another good reason to keep grades up the first semester Senior year!)
