IT WAS NEVER A QUESTION BEFORE. I WAS ADAMANT ABOUT NATURAL CHILDBIRTH. BUT... BRAXTON HICKS CONTRACTIONS FEEL LIKE MY ENDOMETRIOSIS CRAMPS. HOWEVER, I CAN NO LONGER GET INTO FETAL POSITION (SOMEONE'S ALREADY THERE). SO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE REAL THING STARTS? I CAN'T IMAGINE THEY WILL HURT LESS. COULD MY PAIN TOLERANCE POSSIBLY BE LOWER ( Read more... )

One word: ow!
I just read what Braxton Hicks contractions were and they do NOT sound pleasant. I was always a natural childbirth girl, too, but I might reconsider if I was feeling what you are! :) Feel better!

Please dont drug unless you have no choice, the likelyhood of intervention is so greatly increased that you may find you have no say any more despite having a well worked out birth plan. Your body will be sending out signals for you to do stuff and if you have desensitized those parts of your body it be a much more medicalised birth than it needs to be. The pain you will certainly feel will be rewarded by a wonderful baby and you will then be filled with a euphoric sense that would be impossible without full sensation. Gas & air are fine but try and get into a waterpool once you are fully dilated. Read Sheila Kitzinger if you havent already, she is an english midwife who has written extensively on the subject of empowering women in labour.
Enjoy the time you have left as EVERYTHING changes as soon as they are here.
Peace.

THANKS FOR THAT. :) IT'S NICE TO HAVE SOMEONE BE SUPPORTIVE OF GOING NATURAL RATHER THAN LOOKING AT ME LIKE I'M INSANE. I WILL CHECK OUT KITZINGER!
