I hope this doesn't come off as preachy...

You have to do what makes you feel the most comfortable. Why subject yourself to the unnecessarily added stress of driving there and back if both you and your doctor agree that it's not something you should be doing. As you know unfortunately all too well (with our crazy family!) family stuff is complicated and the things people say and/or do isn't always about the issue at hand. I'm sure that if you went into labor on the way there or back, your Mom would feel badly about pressuring you to go.

You are your own person, first and foremost; family is important, but you need to do what's right for you and your new future family, too.

How are you feeling otherwise? Have you been back to the doc for a revised date at all, or is it pretty much any time now? I'm so very excited!!!

Family is kind of a weird thing anyway. Some people are probably just trying to transfer their grief or anger onto you.

Just ignore it. The most important thing right now is your baby. They'll understand that eventually, if for no other reason than the fact that they'll want pictures they can show off to their friends.

Don't stress if you can help it.

I just saw your post. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your granddad and the frustration and stress it's brought on you. :( Tim is exactly right tho, try not to think about the family B.S. and focus on your soon-to-be bundle of joy. :) Honestly, the last thing you need to do is stress your body and mind even more than it already is. Take long baths/showers, relax, light some candles and read a favorite book because before you know it, the newest addition to your family will be here! :)
