Best: the Fables series, About a Boy, everything by Neil Gaiman, A Great and Terrible Beauty, The Invention of Huge Cabret, Winged Creatures, No One Belongs Here More Than You, The Alchemist. I really enjoyed the PJO books and the 39 Clues series as well, but I'm not sure they qualify as "the best."
Worst: New Moon. The Little Prince was a bit disappointing (I expected it to change my life as everyone said it would), but still a good read.
