Fic: Of Penguins and Field Trips
Title: Of Penguins and Field Trips

Summary: Grant and his penguin are visited by Jack.
Note: Another story from the Leaving series. This one's a really short one so more of a ficlet. Also Unbeta-ed so far so if anyone wants to help out with this and the rest of the series please reply in the comments.
"Grant?"
"Yes Jack?" replied Grant, looking up from the computer monitor before him to see Jack leaning in the doorway.
"Why is there a stuffed penguin toy on your desk?"
Grant's face lit up as he picked up the toy and turned it to face Jack.
"Do you like him? Donald got him for me when we went to the zoo." He turned the toy to face him, smiled at it and hugged it before gently setting it back in it's place on his desk.
"When did you two go to the zoo?" Jack asked, frowning.
"On our last day off," replied Grant, still smiling fondly at the penguin, then he looked back up, "why? Did you want to go to? We could go again, all three of us or, hey, maybe, maybe other people would want to come, we could go out and ask a-and it would be like, like a field trip only better cause there's no homework afterwards and,"
"Grant, it's alright. I don't want to go to the zoo." Jack interrupted.
"You don't?" Grant looked sadly up at Jack. Jack sighed.
"It's not that I don't want to go to the zoo with you, just... let me speak to Donald, alright? We'll work out a time when we can go, just the three of us."
Grant smiled up at Jack, who smiled back and left, allowing Grant to turn back to his monitors, but not before giving the penguin another fond smile and caressing its head.
Edit: Fixed a spelling mistake pointed out by sgafan33. And apologies for my reply btw I only doubled checked in one of my grammar books to find you were right and its is an exception to the rule.
