I think the first shot is quite a capture. The way I see it, I like your crop how you only see his hands holding her in the swing while, in the background, there's a framed shot of the couple themselves. A nice repetition. Even her blue blouse and the blue shirt (in the frame photograph) on him helps direct the eye! Or, maybe I really take notice of too too many things. Haha.

thanks for the feedback. im glad you enjoyed the first shot! im still not quite sure how the lighting and colors ended up the way they did, but i didnt want to correct them too much because i kind of liked it the way it was. :)

the first picture, the swinging, seems to say a lot...they are young, they are spontaneous, they have fun, they have a nice apartment; whether i'm right or wrong about them, the photo is causing me to make a lot of assumptions about them based just upon what i'm seeing. i think that's very good.
the other three are ok photos, but they seem more like illustrations that would go with an article, more like photojournalism, the pictures that give evidence that the accompanying words are true. so, for the reasons expressed in your class, i vote for number one -- it says the most without recourse to written backup.
[one person's opinion, worth what it cost. lol]
