"So, emporer penguins. Crazy, huh?"

I'm super late this week! eep, sorry. It was a combination of 95% of the episode being about Barney/Robin (making this picspam GINORMOUS!) and a crazy RL.

heh, Bob Saget will never be free of that character in my mind.

I always love Lily/Robin scenes, we need more of that relationship!

I believe Barney/Robin should make out in every episode. I do not think I am alone in this thinking. ;)

YAY! This is awesome! Totally what I needed after too much family time today. ;)

Here, I think he's just thinking too much about how he doesn't want to be the guy that anyone turns to for deep emotional conversations, lol.

Yeah, and, to be fair, I think it IS a different situation, when it's your significant other compared to a best friend. Of course, there are also more significant consequences when you ignore your girlfriend's problems. ;)

And wtf, Lily? Ted is a wonderful guy, and definitely an amazing boyfriend on paper (even if he was wrong for Robin), but lol he's kind of the only guy she's "dated" in the last few years. What other incredible boyfriends?

Haha! Gael? That's, like, the only other guy she had any kind of long-term relationship with.

He needs to be the most awesome person at this boyfriend stuff, as he is the most awesome person with everything else in this world.AND HE WAS! I mean, it wasn't the right move and all, but everything he did . . . like, if Robin wasn't Robin and didn't know him so well, she would' ( ... )

LOL at first I was like "Enrique Iglesius???" but then I didn't really count that as a "real" relationship. Although maybe Lily does, both her and Marshall were pretty head over heels ( ... )

I guess I could see that! I mean, Robin probably knew by then would she did/didn't want. So it could've almost been, "I'll give Ted this little thing he wants, since I can't give him what he really wants."

It's true! Or they'll just think Robin is kinda . . . going along with it? In a lot of ways, she really has come off as so passive when it comes to Barney. I think that's in character for her when it comes to relationships, but I can see how that might make it hard for some viewers to root for Barney/Robin. Unless you're obsessed like us, lol.

And then my mom (who I still suspect of being a Ted/Robin shipper!) said that if Ted really knew Robin that well, they probably would've ended up married. She did agree with me that if Barney doesn't already, he WILL know Robin better, but . . . my mom's a super-casual viewer, so that again makes me wish they'd done something to show how well Barney really does know Robin.

I think in a lot of ways I actually wouldn't mind if they break up so Robin gets to OBVIOUSLY pine for him a little bit. I mean in theory she almost did last season, but they didn't deal with any of that on the surface at all.

Although, in a lot of ways that's a bit cliche in a way. You know, boy has what he thinks is unrequited love for girl, and then girl finds out and "something" happens but ultimately it doesn't lead anywhere, and then girl pines for boy for awhile.
And THEN they get together. I feel like I've seen that a million times. I mean, it works so I guess I can't complain too much, but still...

I thought of the same thing when Ted said "Guess Who", Robin is way too cute about the penguins (I adore them too) :)

This is awesome, as usual! I look forward to these so much and I'm glad you do them every week.

Here, I think he's just thinking too much about how he doesn't want to be the guy that anyone turns to for deep emotional conversations, lol. That's kind of the antithesis of everything he wanted to be.
This makes a lot of sense. It felt a little off to me when I first watched it, because like you said, he did a really good job of comforting her in "Sandcastles" but I definitely think you're right and he's just worried about turning into "that guy" who's the stereotypical boyfriend.

I don't think he really needs to "change" who he is. I think he just needs to stop trying so hard both to NOT be a stereotypical boyfriend and now to BE a stereotypical boyfriend. They can work out their own thing if he stops thinking about expectations. This! There is totally a happy medium, they just need to find it. And, they need to actually communicate better with each other - all of this probably would've been avoided if Robin had just told Barney that ( ... )

I think in a lot of ways Barney just doesn't want to be Ted. lol which can be confusing since he actually took lessons from him, but I think he just loves Robin that much that he'd do almost anything.

Yea, Ted and Robin are just very different people. I mean, sometimes opposites attract and all that, but I think you definitely need someone who at least wants similar things or you're going to run into problems.

The whole last part was so adorable, I loved it!
