I have stuff I should be doing, so of course I get caught up writing a challenge prompt instead. Oy! Here, have a drabble.

The rain beats down on the roof with a steady tink and patter. Outside the world’s a dark blur, the windows long since fogged by their breath.
John’s stretched out as best he can along the front seat, knees up, Sam a warm bundle across his chest. He watches Dean’s hand push a toy car along the seat back, making quiet vroom noises, so as not to wake his brother. The black leather of John’s jacket is rolled up so it doesn’t swallow his son’s tiny hands completely. He’s warm at least.
John smiles sadly and the rain beats down.
