Vancouver Olympics - 8 days left

Eight days left before I return home from the Olympics. Vancouver is a great town and great to see the fun people from all over the world are having here - UK journalists excepted, but they're a sour bunch anyway.

Had lunch with midnightsjane today.  Really great to catch up on Jane's life.  Big stuff going on as she prepares to be "landed gentry".  I'm

Congrats for your ladies. They were excellent.

And you must be quite pleased about your impressive showing vs. Russia. Canada played about as well as I've seen any team play - impressive combination of skill and effort. And equally a let-down by Russia - I expected their depth to be an issue (Russia's 3rd & 4th lines, and defense pairings) to be no match, but I didn't expect to see such poor performances from Ovie, Kovy and Malkin.

Does make me worry about my Capitals. I love Ovechkin but he still has to prove himself on the big stage.

Apparently they've had a minute of silence in Russia over the loss. But, can you trust the media?

We're in good shape for a CA vs US rematch in the finals!

Given how badly they got beaten, and that the KHLs biggest stars were total busts, I'd think the moment of silence was for all those people jumping off buildings...

And yeah. I think there's a good shot at a rematch as long we don't take Finland or Slovakia lightly. (We want Sweeden - Oops...) Slovakia actually looked pretty good. And the US is still so young. I do think both could be good semifinals, though barring super-human performance in goal by Ryan Miller - I don't see Canada losing.
