This is two mornings in a row, during breakfast, that a Cooper's hawk has swept in on the bird feeders, and briefly paused on the arm of our umbrella stand (about 15 feet from where we eat).  It didn't get anything but it was exciting nonetheless.  The other birds only take about a minute to make sure the hawk's gone before coming back in to eat ( Read more... )

I see this post about the predators in your yard. But where in it is the predator in you?

The options are:

1) I'm just using a subject to get your attention - likely and also successful!

2) We've put much effort into creating our home (house and surrounding gardens) so that these can be seen as an extension of us (me), so if the predators are in our gardens they are in our (my) space. Absolutely the gardens are an extension of me and I feel much kinship with the things in the garden.

3) It delights me so much to see the predators that there is something akin to them in me. Certainly it delights me, the rest I'll leave to an analyst to figure out.

So, any or all of the above.

By the way....from your icon it's clear where the predator in you resides. ;-)

Bad German accent: "Und how looong have you velt you had zis predator inzide you?"

Predators in nature are pure. They need food, they hunt, and they eat. Human predators, on the other hand, are a great deal more complicated.

Since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, Frau Doktor.

"Predators in nature are pure. They need food, they hunt, and they eat."

And they are beautiful.

"Human predators, on the other hand, are a great deal more complicated."

Ah, I see. The conversation has turned to my attraction to the BTVS and ATS TV series.

You're back!! Last time I blew through (months ago) you weren't anywhere to be found - what a lovely surprize!

Hope all is well... wow.. I may have to stop back! I was just remembering our party threads and discussions - and was visiting for old times sake. Happy accident?
