look at suny esf (state of new york college of envir. science and forestry). its a state school w/ very reasonable tuition, syracuse is a cheap city to live in and most of the paul smith forestry people transfer to esf anyways because last i knew it wasn't a 4 year school yet. the entire school, which is right next to syracuse university, is all environmental majors...everything from forestry, resource management, field biology, enviro. chemistry, environmental engineering (which was my degree)...etc.
there is a prof., dr. nowack who is amazing whom i had for my silviculture class (botany, dendrology and silvi are required for everyone including the engineers).

you know i was thinking about that school for the longest time but i dont think i could drag myself to live in syracuse. i have been to it many times and i just dont like it too much, but i guess the city shouldnt really effect my choice in schools. paul smiths went 4 year a couple years ago and has great things to offer but they require all students to live on-campus or have a good excuse to not be, which i have. but all in all i would have to say that i trust your judgement when it comes to schools and will think more about ESF.
