Her early years at Hogwarts were filled with ups and downs -- living in a dormitory along with a handful of other girls, seeing her friend Petrified by an unknown monster, weekend trips to Hogsmeade, fear of notorious mass murderer Sirius Black, Cedric Diggory bringing Hufflepuff glory as Hogwarts's Triwizard Champion, his subsequent death in the third task -- and Hannah reveled in sharing the good and the bad times with such an accepting community.
By the time Hannah reached her upper years of schooling, everything seemed to have taken a turn for the worst. In her OWL year there were terrible rumors circulating about the return of You-Know-Who, and new decrees continually prohibited any sort of activity that might lead the students to figure out what was going on -- or at least that's how Hannah, confused as she was about the world, interpreted them. Despite her shiny new Prefect badge, Hannah illegally joined a secret Defence society that Hermione Granger set up, taught by the one and only Harry Potter. Add in the constant stress of the approaching OWL exams and you get one year that Hannah was happy to leave behind her.
Sixth year started out rather promisingly, with fewer classes to stress over and one very important addition to Hogwarts: Jillian Abbott! Though Hannah and her sister were not very close in age, they had a surprisingly strong relationship with very little sibling rivalry. The girls were ecstatic that Jill was sorted into Hufflepuff as well, but their happiness was short lived. A few weeks into term, they received news that their mother had passed away. Returning home for the funeral was one of the worst experiences of Hannah's life -- her mother had hated black, did you know? -- and surely what she would relive if she got too near a Dementor.
After Dumbledore's death, Mr. Abbott wanted to pull his daughters out of Hogwarts, but when all non-Muggleborn students were required to return Hannah convinced him it was really in their best interests to comply. However, that didn't mean it was easy. The girls were very nearly Muggleborns themselves, and the Carrows were always biased against those who lacked prestigious bloodlines. Though Hannah dealt with punishment the best she could, it appalled her to see what they were willing to do to Jillian, a mere twelve-year-old girl. When DA members moved in to the Room of Requirement, Hannah dragged her sister in there and made her promise never to leave without Hannah's express permission. Hannah intended to continue attending classes -- after all, it was her NEWT year -- but at a point this became unbearable and she retreated into the Room of Requirement until the Battle of Hogwarts.

Chaos and screaming and flashes of light, walls crumbling and dodge that spell!, and all the while the constant wonder of Where are my friends? Are they alright? And Jillian, is she safe? After being in battle, it was hard to believe that exams had made Hannah panic so much in the past. In fact, it was hard to believe that exams were at all significant, and so Hannah didn't take advantage of the opportunity to take her NEWTs during the summer.
Instead, she more or less retreated into the Muggle world that she grew up in, though of course she did not give up magic altogether. Living with her father in her childhood home, Hannah was inspired to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a ballerina. For years she alternated between taking intensive dance classes and waiting tables at a small café in order to pay for those classes. Throughout her years at Hogwarts, Hannah was only able to enroll in a few summer dance programs, so she did not have quite as much strength or stamina as the other dancers in her classes. But she pushed through it, trying out for various ballet companies in England but each time falling slightly short of their standards.
In the four years since leaving Hogwarts, Hannah's communication with other witches and wizards dwindled to the owls she exchanged with Jillian while she was off at Hogwarts. Shortly before Jill returned for her seventh year, Hannah decided it was about time she made an effort to re-integrate herself into the magical community and moved into Euterpe's Corner.
Current employment status: It seems rather fitting that in her readjustment to Wizarding society Hannah landed a job at The Leaky Cauldron, the very pub that introduces Muggleborns to the Wizarding World. Though she is officially employed as a waitress, on days when business is slow she often ends up doing dishes or wiping down tables instead. Her salary is enough to cover her share of the rent and other living expenses with little left over for luxuries.
Personality: If I only had ten words to describe Hannah's personality, they would be: Hannah tries, but often feels that her efforts are inadequate. She always puts forth an effort to be friendly, optimistic, supportive, helpful, and fair. Though her efforts are met with a great deal of success, the high expectations she holds for herself can be beyond realistic. Hannah always considers how her words and actions might make others feel and often tries to please everybody while still remaining true to herself -- a rather difficult, if not impossible, task.
Though Hannah tries to tolerate all behavior, she can't stand bullying and will often stand up for the victims, though in the same situation she is not likely to stand up for herself. Blood prejudice is a particularly personal issue to her, since her mother was a Muggleborn -- and an absolutely brilliant witch, thank you very much!

In addition to paying her share of the rent on time, she likes to help out where she can and won't hesitate to wash someone else's dirty dishes or take out the trash even if it's not her turn. She takes an active interest in her flatmates' lives and tries to have at least one meaningful conversation with them everyday, which could potentially be annoying if one just wants to relax after a long day at work.
