1. Koyama doesn’t plan it. He’s long since realized that plans like ”Tonight, I’m going to have sex!” usually end with him eating reheated ramen with his cat or watching quiz game reruns with Shige. He doesn’t doubt that Jin’s success rate is rather higher than his own but he doesn’t think Jin really plans those things either. Planning implies thinking ahead of time and Jin’s just not the type to think much...at all. It’s okay, really, because Koyama has no problem forgetting to think, especially when Jin is leaning drunkenly on him and tracing the shell of his ear with the tip of his tongue.
The ride back to Koyama’s place is an adventure in itself. The taxi driver keeps stealing glances at them in the rearview mirror as Jin makes suggestive gestures and faces which Koyama answers with fits of giggles. That is until Daite Senorita comes on on the radio and they both burst into song, dancing as enthusiastically as their seat belts allow. As the taxi drives off, Jin comments that they should have been the ones getting paid for that ride.
They’re still giggling as they make their way upstairs to Koyama’s room, making shushing noises at each other that may actually be louder than the giggling itself. The last hiccup of laughter dies against Jin’s lips as soon as they close the door behind them. Koyama is still smiling through the kiss as Jin backs him up to his bed. It’s dark in the room but Koyama knows his way even if Jin doesn’t, and it doesn’t really matter if they do bump into the desk and stumble over that carpet wrinkle Koyama has known to be there since forever...
In bed, Jin’s not the sex icon he likes to portray on stage, and Koyama is actually glad, because he is sexy but in a rather clumsy way that makes Koyama feel like it’s okay to be a bit inexperienced if you compensate with enthusiasm. Clothes are thrown out of the way with overly dramatic gestures, and they have to laugh a bit when the buttons of Koyama’s shirt get stuck in Jin’s hair. It’s fun. Fun and relaxed and nice. So nice that Koyama wishes they could do this more often. But he already knows it’s not going to happen. It’s just for tonight. Just for fun.
When things get more serious, Jin becomes all hip moves and hot breath behind Koyama’s ear. Koyama wraps a leg around Jin’s thighs, uses the other for leverage to push himself up. His hands slip on Jin’s sweaty skin. The only thing consistent about their rhythm is the way it goes faster and faster still. Koyama comes with his hand tight over his mouth. Jin comes a few pants later, his strangled noise right next to Koyama’s ear.
They lie there for a moment, pressed against each other, comfortable though in an awkward position. They remain unmoving, silent even, for a few minutes until Jin’s stomach starts rumbling against Koyama’s hip and they both burst into giggles.
“Hungry?”
“I’d eat five cheeseburgers, American size.” Jin rolls over and grins at him.
Koyama laughs. “... I’ve got ramen?” he offers.
“That’ll do,” Jin replies, smile wide and happy at the prospect of food.
Koyama does end up eating reheated ramen and watching quiz game reruns that night but, in the end, with Jin’s leg thrown over his and their shoulders bumping as they shake with laughter, he thinks maybe it’s not that bad.
2. Koyama always shampoos twice. The first time washes but it’s the second time that leaves your hair all soft and nice. But when he turns around and blindly reaches for the shampoo bottle that day, what his hand meets is soft and warm and definitely not plastic. He jerks back in surprise and rubs the shampoo off his eyes hastily only to find himself face to face with Yamapi. And his bottle of shampoo. In Yamapi’s hand.
Koyama blinks. “Oh, hi, Yamapi.”
Yamapi grins. “I’m out of shampoo. Mind if I use yours?”
“Not at all.” Koyama smiles. “Give me a minute and I’ll pass over the bottle?”
Yamapi tilts his head. “I wasn’t planning on taking it away,” he clarifies and, as if to make sure there are no misunderstanding left, steps into the shower.
Koyama has always had some kind of a crush on Yamapi. It’s nothing serious, really, and Koyama probably wouldn’t want to be with Yamapi even if it was possible, which it isn’t. It’s not that kind of crush. But Yamapi is cool, attractive and popular and maybe Koyama just admires him for it.
So when Yamapi steps into his shower, Koyama sure doesn’t stop him. Not wanting to be together forever doesn’t mean he’s going to throw away a chance like this. He doesn’t know why Yamapi is doing it, but Yamapi is weird and doesn’t seem to follow logic like some people Koyama knows.
Koyama steps back, not because he wants to put distance between himself and Yamapi but because the shower stall is rather tiny and two people can barely fit in. Water drips into his eyes, flattens Yamapi’s stylish haircut. Koyama’s heart beats fast.
“Shampoo?” Koyama offers dumbly and Yamapi smirks.
The next instant, Yamapi backs him up against the wall and kisses him, pressing their bodies together. He is fast, not hurried but purposeful, a bit rough. Koyama moans, muffled by Yamapi’s lips, and swallows Yamapi’s low groan. It feels good, so good. Yamapi’s skin is hot and wet and slippery and smells like soap and shampoo.
It doesn’t last long, doesn’t take long at all before Koyama’s head snaps back against the wall and he comes with a loud gasp. Against him, Yamapi’s hand keeps on moving for a bit longer before Yamapi tenses and breathes out something that resembles a name next to Koyama’s ear. Koyama keeps his eyes closed for a moment, smiles.
The good thing about sharing a moment like this with Yamapi is that it doesn’t have to be awkward afterward, even if they are bandmates and have to work together every day. Yamapi values friendship more than anything else in the whole world and he would never let anything get in the way. That’s another thing Koyama admires about Yamapi.
Koyama giggles when Yamapi pokes him on the hip. “Thanks for the shampoo.”
“No problem.”
3. There is a series of clicks, a strange screeching noise and then gravity seems to fail them for a moment.
“Fuck,” a shaken breath on his left. Had he not been the only other person present at the moment, Koyama would never have recognized Ryo’s voice.
“Um, there seems to be a problem with the elevator,” Koyama says and ignores the glare thrown his way to the advantage of the emergency phone.
System failure. Power should be back in half an hour, he is told. One look at Ryo’s face makes him trade the should for a definite will. Ryo breathes in relief but doesn’t forget to grumble a bit, just for good measure.
“Just my luck,” he sighs, flopping onto the floor and leaning his head against the wall.
“Now, come on, Ryo-chan. It could have been worse,” Koyama smiles, sitting with his back to the opposite wall, legs stretched out in front of him.
“Like what? I could have been stuck here with Shige?” Ryo snorts.
“You’re so mean,” Koyama admonishes, but he’s trying not to laugh. “I know you’d never admit it but you actually like him, don’t you?”
Ryo laughs. “You’re right, I’ll never admit it.” He shakes his head and adds, “You and your member-ai...”
Koyama chuckles and they fall into silence. The only thing illuminating the elevator is the reddish glow of the emergency light. It gives their skin a strange orangey tone. Ryo lets out a long breath. He still doesn’t look happy with the situation but at least he doesn’t look as tense as he did a moment ago. Member-ai works wonders after all. Koyama smiles to himself.
“Let’s play a game, Ryo-chan!” he offers cheerfully.
Ryo looks at him like he’s grown a second head. “Are you fucking kidding me?”
“Come on, it’ll help pass the time! Play with me,” Koyama prods.
“You’re an idiot.” Ryo shakes his head, but he finally relents. “What do you suggest?”
Koyama’s smile grows to twice the size of Masuda’s. “Let’s play the Cha-cha-cha game!” he beams.
“The...” Ryo trails off, confused at first, and then realization dawns of him. “No.”
“We can take advantage of this moment to share our thoughts on the other members’ good points...”
“No,” Ryo repeats emphatically, but Koyama still goes on.
“And then we can also try it with you and me!” The look on Ryo’s face is priceless, somewhere between disbelief and desperation. Koyama wants to laugh but it’s much more entertaining to go on a bit longer. “Let’s start with Yamapi! Or maybe we should start with the youngest and go all the way up to you and me. What do you think?”
“You.” Ryo’s tone sounds almost dangerous but Koyama purposefully ignores it.
He makes a point to keep babbling even as Ryo crawls over to his side of the elevator, that is until Ryo’s lips cover his and muffle whatever he was going to say next. Ryo’s kiss is not exactly gentle but it has none of the aggressiveness one could have expected. His lips are soft, if a bit pushy, his hesitation badly concealed and his tongue teasing and agile as Koyama opens his mouth to let it in. The hesitation dies in a matter of seconds and Ryo’s hands, cool fingers and rough calluses, snake onto Koyama’s scalp to grip his hair.
“Yeah, I guess that’s another way to pass the time...”
“Shut up,” Ryo says, but Koyama can feel him grinning against his lips.
They don’t play any other game after that but Koyama can’t really complain. This incident turned out to be a pretty good opportunity to get to know Ryo yet a little bit better. This is a side of Ryo he won’t get to see again, Koyama thinks, because it was all nice and enjoyable but it wasn’t anything more than that. It was all for good fun. ‘It’s member-ai ♥!’ he thinks. When he brings it up to Ryo, though, all he gets is a roll of the eyes and “You owe me food.”
4. It’s not that Tegoshi’s too young because he definitely isn’t, or he wouldn’t be if he was just a few months older... but he’s Tegoshi and that in itself is enough to make this situation wrong. That’s what goes through Koyama’s mind when Tegoshi leans over to the driver seat and presses his lips to the corner of Koyama’s mouth.
While he never really questioned the consequences of bringing home Jin after a few drinks, or letting Yamapi come into the shower stall with him, or bonding with Ryo in the elevator, Koyama worries about Tegoshi. Because Jin, Pi and Ryo all knew it did mean anything...
Tegoshi’s not so innocent, of course. He flirts a lot and Koyama’s pretty sure he’s done a few things he wouldn’t want his mother to know about. Truthfully, Koyama doesn’t want to know either. But Tegoshi is still young, somewhat naive and a bit self-centered, and Koyama is afraid a simple kiss could turn into something rather ugly if Tegoshi decides he wants it to mean something.
“Thanks for the ride, Kei-chan.” Tegoshi tilts his head and smiles. “And the food, and karaoke, and the drinks. Kei-chan’s really good to me.”
“It’s nothing,” Koyama laughs somewhat nervously. He is used to hearing this kind of speech from Tegoshi but it feels different when he can still feel Tegoshi’s lips on his.
“Do you want to come in?” Tegoshi offers in a sweet voice and Koyama feels discomfort build inside of his stomach.
Koyama takes a deep breath. It’s better to clarify things now. “Tegoshi...” he begins but then he turns around and sees the knowing smirk on Tegoshi’s lips. Realization dawns on him. He’s being played with. “Tegoshi!” he exclaims, a bit outraged, but mostly relieved.
“The look on your face!” Tegoshi giggles. “I wish you could have seen the look on your face.”
“That was very evil of you.”
“Kei-chan has been so distracted lately,” Tegoshi pouts cutely, “I had to get your attention somehow.”
“Am I really that bad?” Koyama asks sheepishly. He knows he has been a bit distracted but he didn’t think anyone would notice.
“Only way to get your attention is to talk about Shige.” Tegoshi grins and Koyama chokes on his answer and starts coughing.
“What?” he asks once he manages to breathe again. Tegoshi only laughs. “Hey! Don’t laugh while your good senpai is dying!”
“I’m sure we’d find someone to reanimate you.” Tegoshi winks at him. “But since you’re alive, why don’t you pay Shige a visit? It’s not that late...”
Koyama’s first reflex is to protest, deny everything, but somehow it doesn’t seem worth it. Tegoshi wouldn’t buy it. “What about you?” he asks instead.
“What about me?” Tegoshi asks back. “Are you going to come in?” he adds with a smirk.
5. Koyama doesn't go straight to Shige's. He's willing to admit that his relationship with Shige is different and that his feelings are not quite just friendly, but there are a lot of things he's not ready to deal with yet. Confessing is one of them.
The thing is Koyama knows things won’t work with Shige the way they did with other people. When they drink together, Shige always ends up passing out on the futon next to Koyama’s bed. Shige borrows shampoo and soap from Koyama when he sleeps over but he always asks when they are both fully dressed. And no matter how much Koyama talks, Shige never kisses him to shut him up.
It’s probably just as well. Shige is different. He’s not like Jin or Yamapi or Ryo or Tegoshi. He’s Shige, Koyama’s best friend, unique. They’ve known each other for years, they’ve been through so much together. Koyama knows everything about Shige: the way he likes his coffee (hot, with sugar), how much seasoning he puts in his ramen (“Koyama, stop! That’s too much!”), his favorite authors, his favorite music, the way his breathing slows down when he’s about to fall asleep in the middle of a conversation. He knows every detail but one: how Shige would react if Koyama suddenly announced that he liked him. That he doesn’t know and it terrifies him, because who would want to ruin such a good friendship for something that might not even last?
It’s not just a crush, though. It’s not temporary and the feeling only seems to grow with time. He thought he was doing a better job at hiding it, though, and he wonders if Shige has noticed anything. Shige’s smart after all. But Shige’s also an awful liar and is simply incapable of hiding anything from Koyama. If he knew, Koyama would know.
But apparently Koyama doesn’t know Shige as well as he thinks he does.
“We should go out tomorrow. You have the day off too, right?” Shige asks as they make their way out from rehearsal.
“KoyaShige date! Sure, what do you want to do?” Koyama beams at him.
“This’ll be our 14th date just this month and you still haven’t kissed me. Aren’t you a little slow?” Shige throws out casually, a tiny smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Koyama feels his heart stop for a second. “No, this, you, we’re not like that!” he stutters frantically.
Shige turns to face him. “No?”
“Of course, we’re not!” Koyama exclaims with a fake laugh, avoiding Shige’s eyes.
“You’re an idiot.” Shige shakes his head and grins before catching the front of Koyama’s shirt and pulling him into a kiss. Koyama’s eyes go as wide as saucers and his arms flail a bit and then Shige’s already releasing him and Koyama stumbles back, shocked and breathless.
“H-how?” he asks, raising his hand to touch his lips. “You knew?”
“I’m your best friend,” Shige points out. “Plus, you’re like the loudest person I know so I’m not sure how you were intending to hide this from me. This or anything else, for that matter.” He smirks.
Koyama feels himself flush and scratches the back of his head in embarrassment. “So... you like me?”
“I do,” Shige replies softly, and the faint pink that colors his cheeks is one of the most adorable things Koyama’s every seen. “Do I have to kiss you again to prove it to you?” he adds, somewhat baffled when Koyama doesn’t do or say anything.
The smile that spreads over Koyama’s face is large and overpowering. “I think you should, because I’m not sure how you managed to hide something like that from me. I mean, you, Kato Shigeaki, possibly the worst liar in the whole w...”
The rest of his sentence dies against Shige’s lips. Koyama smiles, pulls Shige closer, wraps his arms around him. Of all the kisses Koyama’s shared in his life, this one has to be his favorite because he knows it’s the first of many more to come. If fun times come and go, some things are really meant to last forever.
