Title: Serenity
Pairing: Subaru/Yasu

They sit on the bed, wrapped in the orangey glow of fading hours. Yasu’s guitar sit in his lap, cozy in the loose embrace. They’ve stopping playing for a while now, falling into the easy kind of conversation that means both nothing and everything. Intimacy is not made of words. Yasu unconsciously slides his thumb up the neck of his guitar, his fingers pressing in random chords, a tune that lingers secretly between them as Yasu’s other hand remains idle on Subaru’s ankle.

Halfway through Subaru’s next sentence, Yasu kind of forgets what they’re talking about, focusing on the arch of Subaru’s foot instead. He thumbs the soft incurve with dim curiosity and smiles as Subaru’s toes curl in response. When he looks up, Subaru’s eyes are closed, the expression on his face peaceful and content. Yasu feels his heart swell with something akin to serenity, the feeling that he needs nothing more than this.

And then Subaru cracks an eye open and throws him a look that easily reads as ‘stop sitting there like an idiot and join me here’. Yasu bows his head to hide a smile and gently lays his guitar down before crawling over to Subaru’s side. The sun has already set by then and all that remains is a feeble shadowy light. Yasu wraps his arms around Subaru and kisses his nose. Subaru tilts his head and lazily presses his lips to the corner of Yasu’s mouth, fingers curling into Yasu’s shirt.

Two hours later finds them in exactly the same position.
