it wasn't 'perfect' but don't beat yourself up. tracking what you eat helps you learn about what your eating habits are and why you eat the things you do. it's a learning process for all of us.

try to get core foods to have on hand and make sure you eat lunch you silly thing! when i don't eat for that many hours i get ravenous and don't care at all what i eat. try to get your family to replace a few things. low/no fat milk instead of full fat (you'd be AMAZED what a difference that makes).

also, if you plan to eat more small meals/regular snacks throughout the day its easier to talk yourself out of the pastries and french fries. i have finally managed to eat 2/3 cup of cereal in the morning which used to leave me really hungy so i'd eat tons more and then have something else to make me feel really full. i find that now when i have the smaller breakfast and the knowledge that i'll have some fruit in a couple of hours, it's much easier to listen to my body say "yeah, i'm ok with that"
