Recent kitchen experiments

Roasted potatoes
(Not really an experiment, but a good recipe.) Two medium white potatoes, two medium sweet potatoes, cut into chunks/wedges. Spread out in one layer in a baking dish or roasting pan. Coat with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bake at 425 degrees for about 40 minutes, or until golden brown. ( Read more... )

Cake balls don't sound too bad or hard. Ever think to deep fry them like hush puppies?

Hm, I don't think I've ever deep fried anything... but I suppose a donut-style deep frying might be interesting. I wonder how the cake filling would hold up, though, since refrigeration is such a key step in keeping them firm.
