Wrights Hill Fortress, a WWII gun emplacement made to stop ships out in the Cook Strait and also a shelter - that was never used because they finished it in 1945. Wartime propoganda is always interesting to look back on. You can find many Japanese propaganda clips on youtube--and then of course racist American cartoons. It's interesting to compare the Japanese approach which was very nationalist; all "waga nippon" will rule the earth and conversely the American one, which simply took to caracteruising the people of enemy nations...So what was NZ's approach?
The Phillipines was everyone's bitch at some point :/ A woman who grew up there told me that before the Spanish, the writing of the language was similar to Arabic...
Was the church particularly pretty or something...?
