It's finally happened! Stalbot allowed me, during his waking hours, to put him down and get some stuff done! His stripy chair is apparently no longer anathema. He just spent the best part of an hour in it, while I revelled in my glorious freedom by making a loaf of bread, doing the washing up, scrubbing the kitchen and sweeping the floor. I think the trick with bread is the yeast. Fresh yeast works better than the bollocks you get in packets. Bread making communities online will tell you about making a culture or a starter thing where the yeast starts to multiply on its own and you keep it alive by feeding it. Proper bakers do it I believe.

Anyway yes, yeast, I always put more than directed in my mix. Not loads though because there's nothing worse than giving guests thrush. Unless they like that sort of thing.
