I have actually managed to do a bit of data analysis this week. Of course now I have no idea what to do with the numbers, but I will take what I can get. I'm still stuck with this block on writing my proposal. I have a general outline and a list of references.. but every time I open the word document, I can feel the urge to throw my laptop and run

Fred recommended those melatonin pills to one of Wendy's grad students a couple of years ago when she was having trouble sleeping--I guess it really helped. And as a circadian biologist, you are attuned to the subtle art of phase response curves, so you could use it better.

Are you doing any chi-square analysis? If you are, and you subtract the significance line from the chi-square plot, you can put together some neat plots because you can compare the most significant period from group-to-group a little bit more easily. I don't know if it's exactly statistically kosher, but Fred hasn't complained about the figures I've sent him this summer (yet).

I think my problem is that I know I should fix it, but also I maybe don't really want to? Mostly because the internet is full of so many distracting things that I would like to stay up late playing with. I lose, basically. If it doesn't get sorted out by Labor Day, I will definitely look into the melatonin pills.

And yes, the periodograms are chi-squared. What do you mean by subtracting the significance line?

And yes, writing proposals is the WORST.
