So.  Last night, while taking a much-needed stress relief bath, I watched the third season finale of Mad Men-- which means that I'm now all caught up on those episodes, and have to wait for brand new ones just like every other sad bastard in the world ( Read more... )

1. Damages (it's now up to Season 3- Glenn Close and Ted Danson are AWESOME)
2. Lie to Me (also up to Season 3, though i think only S1 is available on Netflix instant queue- i really like it because it's a clever concept and it's kinda semi-educational: i now know when people are lying to my face. muahahah)
3. The Good Wife (just brand new this season but i've fallen madly in love with it as one of the best shows out there)
4. Lost (okay- i know.. it's hyped to excess which is why for the last 5 years I've refused to watch it- and then i had an excessive amount of time on my hands while i should have been studying for the bar exam and I watched the whole thing through season 5 on Netflix Instant. it's ahh-mazing- which partially pissed me off because I didn't want to love it the way i do)
5. The Wire (my parents and my sister are obsessed with this show.. it was a little slow for me to get into but it has some good, deep, sociological value)

okay, that's all i got.

Damages is awesome. Glenn Close is deliciously evil.

1. "V" and "Modern Family" are both cute. I also really dig Black Books - you can find that on Netflix and is good nerdy BBC humor.

2. You need MIKA and Imogen Heap in your life if they aren't already. Also new Lindsay Mac.

TV:

1. Survivors (BBC 2008) - Finished its two season run in February, but what a great two seasons. Most of the world dies in a pandemic, and a small group of survivors tries to make their way in post-apocalypse England.
2. Life on Mars (BBC 2006) - Possibly old news, but I've been pushing this show on people for a long time... :) Cop gets hit by a car in 2006 and wakes up in 1973. There was a crap US version, but the original is one of my favourite TV shows ever.
3. Afterlife (ITV 2005) - Lesley Sharpe is so so awesome in this as a reluctant psychic who befriends a skeptical psychology professor. Not some X-Files variant, this instead concentrates on the remarkable friendship that sparks between psychic and skeptic. It ran for two seasons and had a finale that made me cry.

I'm so obsessed with Deadwood that I can't bring myself to watch the last two episodes, because it feels like I am losing a bunch of awesome cowboy friends.
I also highly recommend Bones. It is a procedural, which can get a little tedious when watching marathons of episodes. But Emily Deschanel is freaking fantastic and I think you'll like it.

Also,
1)Classics: Giant, The Godfather I and II, Manchurian Candidate, Freaks, The Seventh Samurai, Band of Outsiders, Brazil, Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown,Blue Velvet, Double Indemnity, Rear Window, Touch of Evil, Sunset Boulevard
2) Madeline, Jenny Owens Young, Joanna Newsom, Paul Baribeau, Heathers

I loved Deadwood too, and it was a terrible wrench that they just stopped. Watch the last episodes, then you can just start again ;) Don't you love the bit where the chap arrives and says he'll stay at the hotel and the newspaper man goes "coughbrothelcough"?!?!
