Love that double-decker!! I've always preferred the older transits. They've got style!
Hope this weekend is a better set of days, honey.

I've ready Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell. I enjoyed it although I don't really get on with massive books like that that are full of description. I've not seen the BBC adaptation but they're usually pretty good at adapting books.

I don't normally watch telly, but I watched the first episode of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell on the iplayer. It's definitely a visual treat. Not sure if it will manage to capture the spirit of the book...

Folks are saying that they do not like how the Gentleman is being portrayed. He looks more menacing and less cracked out. One of things that I loved about the book was how campily enthusiastic he would get around Stephen. And Lady Pole looks a lot more actively disturbed whereas in the book she sort of sat in despondent elegance for years. I realize though that they have to adjust things to satisfactorily abridge it without dampening the feel of the book too much. The sorts of stillnesses that crop up in the book would probably translate weirdly. All those footnotes too!!
