I wonder if it's a generational thing (or I'm an old lady) because it seems to me that right now, confidence and strength are exactly the qualities that AREN'T considered good in a girl. Again, could be me being cynical but ten years ago? Those were great qualities. Now they're overwhelmed by things like "pretty" and "conforming." Wear cute clothes, get a cute boyfriend, breed like hell. Could be a war/post-war mentality--look at the fashions in the war decades, the emphasis on grooming and gender roles. Backlash conservativism; could be difficult to find someone who appreciates you if they're comparing you to the weak, oversexualized icons of your generation.

Move to New York City.

You would meet lots of other young, driven professionals who aren't afraid of success and confidence, but instead demand it of themselves and from their peers. Just try out a few bars that might be recommended by some magazines that talk about New York life.

Highly doubt you'll find people like that in Mtown, man.

P.S: Hi :)

So weird! Maybe I'm just getting lucky the few times I do go. I'm sorry it was so shitty for you!

...Give Philly a try?
