I'm not getting involved in the current drama, but I have to say something. Mostly, I think it's absolutely ridiculous. I feel I need to mention that I like both of the parties involved, and I'm in no way taking sides. That said, as someone who likes to know the entire story before forming an opinion, I'm glad that it's all been put out there

As a historical costumer/seanstress/what have you - I know none of what I do is original to me, only the effort put in it. I use patterns designed by other people (unless I don't, Techniques I learned from other people or articles, nx sometimes I am copying a dress that's been made before.

The idea that an artist creates in a vacuum and is not influenced by anyone ele's work in a particular medium is ridiculous. Even some of the great painting masters pf the past learned by COPYing other painting masters.

ETA: People should spend less time and energy looking at other people's business and spend it tending to their own. :)

Plus, disparaging someone else's work does NOT improve the work of the disparager.
