She finally ditched her landline, and is now cell only. She was paying $40 a month  for the landline, and 90% of all her calls were telemarketers, even though she was on the do-not-call list. Seriously, the DNC list is an effin joke.

Pretty much the only reason to have a landline now is to be able to have access to 911 in the event a massive emergency event either knocks out the entire power grid, or a major terrorist attack causes the cell channels to be saturated. Wish landline operators here offered a cheap 911-only landline plan for that.

Well most Tele comps do offer a base POT lines that are normally like 10 bucks a month and the DNC line only works when you tell people to take you off the list when they do call you. every line i had at one point was on the DNC but i still got calls and one of the Marketers told me it really only works if you tell the people you are on it and not to call you. and the list only last for like a year and then you have to sign back up to ALL of them. not just one of them.
