I love Community, so of course I love this interview with the show's creator, but the last part of the interview about pop culture references really got me thinking. One thing I adore about this show (aside from everything) is that it is funny whether you "get" each reference or not, and that's a pretty conscious goal of the show's writers. The

Gilmore Girls was like that. It is probably impossible to get ALL the references in even a single episode that show. I think sometimes NOT getting the reference, or even getting that it WAS a reference, made it funnier. And when I did get a reference, it was a "Yesssss, I am brilliant" moment. :) And it frequently prompted me to investigate the references I didn't get. I discovered some pretty awesome books and music from that show.
