Hey guys!~

Great turn out this time! Quite a few more than last time. <3 Sorry for posting this a day late (! I do that a lot!). I think we probably need someone else to keep us in check, haha. We might be looking for another mod soon, so if anyone's interested...

Enough of my soapbox!

For future reference: DIRECT LINK WITH TINYPIC. Thanks. <3

Wait...The scene with Spock and the bullies? Really? You don't think a child who is told he'll be rejected by society for displaying emotion but is consistently harassed at every turn for something he can't change about himself isn't going to eventually snap? What a little arrogant douche.

It's got nothing to do with not feeling sorry for Spock. I actually know how he feels, so scenes like this usually make me feel extremely uncomfortable and want to hug the person in question. In this case, it annoyed me. There was something in the way it was done that pushed my buttons in all the wrong ways.

The TOS scene when Amanda mentioned in passing how Spock was bulled by the other boys for being half-human when he was a kid? That one I found much worse. The Reboot scene had such a flavour of "Poor guy, you HAVE to love him" to me.
YMMV. Obviously.

I suppose I know what you mean, the scenes with both Jim and Spock as kids are sort of...contrived? (Kirk driving the car off the cliff is pretty much the only part I dislike in the movie because when you don't get the whole story of his brother running away because that was cut, he just looks like he's being a little jerk.) The part with Spock just doesn't bother me, but I can agree that getting that about him from his mother in TOS was a lot more effective.

This!

I feel like I'm on the young end of a few of my fandoms too. (I'm 17, idk, maybe I'm just imagining it.) Age doesn't matter, bb! ♥
