Bones detested the transporter. Hell, detest wasn't even a strong enough term. He hated it, with every single molecule of his being. Every single one of which, he hoped had been put back in the right damn place. Last thing he needed was an arm hanging from his leg, or to lose a finger.

He held his medical tricorder in his hands as he landed on the planet, cocking up an eyebrow as soon as the humid heat smacked him dead on. "Jesus, Jim. Care to warn me next time how hot the damn planet is?" He muttered to his friend. He didn't mind heat, but this was something a little extreme.

Sighing, he followed his line of sight, squinting also to try to see what he was looking at. "Guess we're heading that way then?"

There seemed to be a general air of excitement as they prepared to go planetside. Spock ignored it for the most part, going about gathering his equipment before meeting the rest of the away team in the transporter room to beam to the surface. Straight forward, standard proceedure: go down, take readings, make a report, get back on their way.

When they materialized he caught his breath a bit, comfortable with the heat but not the high humidity. After a moment to adjust, he pulled up the slim black device hanging from the strap over his shoulder. A quick sensor sweep showed pretty much the same thing as had the ships readings from orbit.

Lifting his head and attempting to sheild his eyes as he peered where they were looking, Spock took a few steps toward Kirk. "Picking up massive life form readings, Captain. The forests appear to be densely populated, though I see no evidence of advanced civilization or technology."

Kirk exhaled, the humidity stealing his breath from him, the heat being something he hadn't really considered. "It's not so bad," He clapped Bones on the back, reassuring himself just as much as anyone else. "We'll get used to it." It was starting to get a little easier, despite the way that it was already making his clothes stick to his back a little uncomfortably with sweat, and he walked forward, black boots digging into the ground as the rest of the landing party followed.

There was a clearing up just ahead, likely the location of such a lifeform's existence. "So a primitive, if anything, society," He's not even sure if the lifeforms are humanoid, he just keeps his eyes out, carefully stepping over the brush and searching for something in the thickly dense amount trees.

After a few moments, he continues to walk through towards the clearing, proceeding with equal parts curiosity and fascination.

Sulu hadn't expected to be called on the away mission. It had been a long time since he had been a science officer, his focus having long since changed to piloting and command. He was still, officially, on the science roster though, and was sent to the transporter room with tricorder in hand. It wasn't his style to assume the influence of others, but he had been successful the last time he worked with the captain. It seemed almost logical that Kirk would pick him again ( ... )

"Speak for y'self," he muttered to Jim, as he held the tricorder in one hand, and began tugging at his shirt with the other, trying to somehow let some air waft through to cool his skin.

But, the second Spock said it was densely populated, he glanced around, trying to see if there were any of these lifeforms close by. Part of him hated away missions just for this uncertainty. What if they did run into someone? Who was to say they'd not try blowing their goddamn heads off?

It was even worse when Sulu whispered. Well, here goes nothin' right?
