Is your PhD program supported (stipend)? In the states Masters programs are unsupported (suuuuuuuuuuuuuucky!) and PhD programs give modest (and I do mean modest) stipends. I wish I was doing a PhD now instead of Masters so I didn't have to find a job in addition to going to school. Oh well.

Hmmm I'm unsure what you mean. We got student payments (government funded) during the degree and honours of hardly anything but at least it was a regularly fortnightly payment. Phd studies get nothing. NOTHINGGGG. I think we get up to $2000 for the entire three years in reimbursment for research related things though as long as we keep reciepts.

I want to go to the US badly. Id love to go to UCLA and check out Anais Nin's orginal manuscripts there. I wonder if I will ever be able to afford it.

What about a teaching position? Lots of PhD students, at least in America, take on some of the introductory courses. I think this also gives you a break on fees.

My fees are are paid I just didnt recieve the full scholarship where they pay you like 600 bucks a week. I get nothing. I don't know if I can spare the time for a teaching position when I am meant to be doing about 8 hrs a day research. eek.

Maybe you'll get it for next year then. Yeah, 8 hrs of research per day plus teaching freshman might be a bit much. See how it all works out though.

What about scholarships? I know a few people doing PhD's who have them. Pays somewhere around $20k per year, tax free.
Ask your supervisor or student services if they can help direct you towards any relevant ones (they'd know better than I would :) ).

You mean scholarships outside of my uni? Cuz the one I applied for I didn't get- I only get my course paid for (other students who got it get 600 bucks a week tax free). I can reapply for this scholarship again in a year I think.
