Reading is something I can never find time for anymore. :( I used to read 3-4 books a week!

A lot of people do 50 books in a year to challenge themselves. (I tried that last year and I think I MAY have finished one book. Maybe.)

Good for you! I started keeping a list of all the books I read when I was 12. In addition to the joy I find in the list just as a documentation of my life and changing tastes, I also find that, starting at such a young age, it gives me a good idea of what books are appropriate to give as gifts for kids.

Having a number goal kind of makes me crazy and I start to sacrifice quality, choosing lots of "contemporary women's fiction" over all the classics (Proust, Tolstoy) that are on my "to read" list. I obviously cannot read as many 1000-page 19th c. novels in a year as I can Jennifer Weiner novels...

Did you like An Object of Beauty? It's on my "to read" list since I positively adored Shopgirl.
