-Lisha: State your name and what you do in the band:
-Sam: I'm same and I play guitar and sing.
-Evan: I'm Evan, and I play drums.
-Sam: ::said in a really high pitch voice:: And uh I'm Mick, and I play bass. No, Mick's not here.
-Lisha: Alright, who inspires you?
-Sam: Good question. Probably like Thrice, Coheed and Cambria, Alkaline Trio like number one is like Further seems Forever, Saves the day, and I even like Anti-Flag a little too.
-Evan: The Drive all the guys from that band, Ben, when he was in it Sam’s older brother inspires me. The Drive's a big influence on all of us. Personally Thursday, Glassjaw, that type of stuff.
-Lisha: Does anyone call you "Ben's little brother's band"?
-Sam: Yes, they do, and I want to punch them in the face. It's not like it's an insult, 'cause Ben's of course a great kid, and you know, I respect him a lot, but it's just like we're trying to make a name for ourselves, and it's not "Ben's brothers band" we're Breakdancefighter, which by the way, is one word. Thanks. But yea, what do you think Evan?
-Evan: I don’t know, Sometimes it's rough because we have no affiliation with Ben, like we try not to. He offers us shows sometimes, and sometimes we play them, but not always just because we want to try to make a name for ourselves, like without his help, just to kinda prove that we're not "Ben's little brother's band". But like Sam said, he's a good kid, but yea.
-Sam: Hey you know what? I'm going to try talking less, give less information on my responses, so you don't have to write too much.
-Lisha: Oh, it doesn't matter, because I don't have that many questions. Um, yeah, like Puff Daddy, and Little Romeo, no wait, Enreque Iglesius, and his dad. Like that?
-Sam: Yeah, that’s true.
-Lisha: Where did you get your name from?
-Sam: Well, actually, this is horrible, because Ben kind of gave us the name, which is another reason it's like, you know, but not a lot of people know that, I'm glad we just have that recorded now. But yea, Ben made up Breakdancefighter it was kind of like, we had a list of names, and I made up "Go Robot, Go" which was a name, and he [Ben] wanted that, and we wanted Breakdancefighter, so we pretty much traded names an even swap, and that’s how we came up with the name, actually. I mean, I guess he got it from Zoolander which is the most affiliation with it. But yea, that’s not what it's about.
-Evan: I hated it for a long time.
-Sam: The movie?
-Evan: No the name.
-Lisha: I like the movie. That's a great movie.
-Sam: Yea it's a good movie.
-Lisha: What’s the best/favorite venue you've played at?
-Sam: People wise definitely this one, 'My Sisters Place' in Fitchburg because, you can't beat this, like the kids are all standing on the street, and all go in as soon as the band starts playing. But other then that, venue-wise probably Empress Ball room is a really good venue and then I don't know. As far as like people like buying merch and being really into it is Stoden, it's a whole big hall. You can't beat the halls I mean they just rock.
-Evan: Yea. I liked playing Bill's Bar in Boston that was a fun venue and Shrewsbury Mass. The Trance Buddha. Pretty much anywhere with a stage, because people can see a lot better, which may, or may not be a bad thing. But pretty much any place with a stage is fun.
-Lisha: Did you guys ever play at the Civic Center in Fitchburg?
-Sam: You know what no, but I've been to like numerous shows there with like The Drive and--
-Evan: And Roxi Monoxide.
-Sam: But I'm really excited to play there, that would be great.
-Lisha: You should Ask The Front Runner, they usually do. They'll probably let you.
-Sam: Or my Brother could help us out.
-Lisha: Oh, yea, Maybe.
-Lisha: What’s the worst one?
-Sam: Probably, I don't want to diss any places, but probably Attleboro, Knights of Columbus. The kids there, a lot of times can be real jerks. But I don’t know, I like the Trance Buddha, but the lights are very blinding--
-Evan: And plus it's in the middle of fucking nowhere, so no one goes.
-Sam: But I have a lot of backwards and forwards, like I love the Empress Ball Room's appearance, but no one was there to watch us. So, no body really watched us, but I wouldn't say it was a waste of time no show is a waste of time, ever. But yea, it was kind of difficult playing in front of one person.
-Evan: I know Reading had a lot of good people there like venue wise, it was kind of poorly set up. And you couldn't hear the band real well. Yea and it's really hot in there, and all that jazz. And that sounds a truck that just went by, yea, that was good.
-Lisha: What is your most embarrassing moment on stage?
-Sam: Actually, pretty much every single time, that, I call it the 'Red Cord' even though it's pretty much pink, but I call it the 'Red Cord', but I have this red cord, that’s plugged into my thing, and it always pops out, and it's really embarrassing trying to like, especially in Stoden, with the actual moment is I knocked it out, and bent down, and the guitar fell, it was a mess.
-Evan: Pretty much, tonight, was terrible for me. Everything that could have went wrong, could have. My snare almost fell over twice. I think it was Sam that knocked over my symbol, during our last song. My bass pedal, my mallet actually came out of it, and I don't know how it happened, but it happened. I dropped a stick about, a bunch of times, because I usually use thicker sticks, but I didn't tonight. Tonight was really embarrassing. When I played guitar for the band, my pants used to always fall down, because I wear them like halfway down my ass. But other then that, yea, those were my embarrassing moments.
-Lisha: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
-Sam: Me personally, I see myself in a band whether we are breakdancefighter or not, i just will definitely be making music. I might, be even doing a solo project. You never know how these things go. But me, Evan and Nick we obviously say that, because it's us, obviously we have a musical connection, I feel like I like playing with these guys and stuff, and as soon as we get a fourth person, it will just be the final link, and that’s great. I don’t know if the band will be around, and if they are sweet, but I don’t know if we stop playing music together for whatever reason, I don’t know if I’ll use the name Breakdancefighter, but I’ll always remember it was my favorite band that I ever played in.
Evan: Um, 10 years? Definitely making music, whether it be in the band, or any other, I’ll definitely be making music. 10 years from now I’ll be twenty… six, so I don’t know, by then if music doesn’t work out, I’m probably going to start a recording studio in Massachusetts, probably not going to leave. For the most part, it’s a good scene, kind of dead, but I like it. Plus it has the best fans, of anywhere, ever. But definitely making music or helping others record theirs.--
-Sam: Longest *something* ever.
-Lisha: No, it’s okay.
-Evan: Yea, Sam sucks at life. And guitar.
-Sam: Damnit!
-Lisha: Who would you say is the “stud” of the band?
-Sam: Number one, definitely Evan. Evan, definitely Evan because Evan, everyone loves Evan. I’m like ‘Hey, I’m Sam, I’m in a band’ they’re like ‘oh that’s great, your fat’ and then Nick everyone’s like ‘oh that’s Nick… you know.. Your Puerto Rican, you know’ So, and then they meet Evan and they’re all like “Oh my God, Evan’s so cute, and like, he’s sexy.’ I mean, he sucks at drums, but don’t we all? I mean really.
-Evan: Personally I think Nick is the stud of the band. Everyone loves Nick because he’s adorable. And he just kind of shuts up all the time, so never says anything stupid. So everyone loves him for that reason. Definitely not Sam, Sam’s got a tiny package. TINY PACKAGE for the record.
-Lisha: What would you do for a million dollars?
-Sam: Kiss a guy. No, don’t record that…
-Lisha: Your brother was like “I’d have sex with a guy for $5,000”.
-Sam: Really? That’s nice. Actually for a million dollars I’d definitely say hi to those people over there. No, I’d probably get hit by a car. Because I’ve always wanted to do that. Or get shot. Like shot in the chest by a gun-- Oh, rad car! But uh yea, so get shot or hit by a cat for a million dollars.
-Evan: Pretty much anything as long as I could play music for at least a month later, pretty much heal quickly. Pretty much anything. No broken limps pretty much. And nothing that would make me humiliated to go out in public, because I like people kind of.
-Sam: Would you cut off your balls for a million dollars?
-Evan: No. Are balls limbs? Well, we’ll consider balls limbs. I don’t want to cut anything off, pretty much.
-Lisha: What would you do with that million dollars. What would you spend it on.
-Sam: Holy Crap! Best answer ever, band equipment and chicks. No, I’m just kidding about the chicks, but definitely go out and buy my band whatever the hell they wanted, and I’d probably now that I think of it, I’d buy my own venue, so that if anything ever go messed up, I could keep having shows there, and somewhere in a good location. Probably somewhere in Boston, because it’s in the center of everything. And then of course a big house for the band to practice at, you know what’s up. And then I’d save some, so I don’t have to go to school. I’d stay in school, but school sucks sometimes.
-Evan: Music equipment, I need a car, music equipment and shit, that’s about it. [Andrew from TFR in the background screaming.]
-Lisha: What is the craziest thing a fan has ever done?
-Sam: Probably walk by us screaming and being drunk. No, wait, that was Drew. Probably, let me think. OH! Came up to us, and blatantly insulted us right to our face. In Connecticut, someone came up to us and said “you guys were the worst fucking band, you were horrible” and then right after this kid Justin or whatever came up and said “you guys are fucking awesome, I don’t care what that kid says. That was pretty psychotic, I was scared.
-Evan: We don’t have fans, so I guess we don’t have anything crazy. [Someone in the background “Make something up!”] One time this guy cut off his limb and gave me his arm. I have it on my mantel at home actually.
-Sam: Don’t write that down.
-Lisha: Okay, I think that’s it.
Thats the second band interviewed for the one and only Star Crashers team! :) wooh! More to come!! I'm gonna attempt to work on the Letter day interview next. It's gonan be hard.....
