Today is just one of those days. I'm drowning underneath all of the things I need to get done. Luckily I have the help of Corey and Tyler. Moving day should be easy as well with all the help I am receiving from my friends

How will we ever truly know one another? What we have felt and what we are feeling? Art is an attempt at that knowing.
When the heart is truly in something, it's hard to not see it. If you want to create art, don't just make it pleasing to the eye. Put your heart in it. Put your soul into whatever you create. Then, even if it is ugly, it is then that it will be truly beautiful, if only because we will have seen into the infinite universe that is you.
Hehe. Cath, Cath, Cath... you must know that I entirely disagree with your definition of the word art. And I think the Oxford English Dictionary probably disagrees too. Yes, painters paint and writer's write (etc.), but they all create art. Of this I am sure and unwilling to compromise.
...and as much as I would like to procrastinate from my Pynchon essay and explain my point of view, your above friend has articulated rather eloquently a view that closely resembles my own, so I'll just say I second that. :)
But I am thrilled to hear that you want to get back into the game of artistic expression. You ARE an artist, after all. But I hope that as you pursue drawing and painting, you keep an open mind to the various other art forms, which are no less art.
You should know me well enough by now to know that i know that writers and poets and musicians create art. You know how much I love all of those things. I understand "the arts" and what that is. My qualm is with the word "artist" and what THAT means.
I was not trying to put down any other form of art. I'm sorry if I did I was just angry and ranting.
