For the Fallen

    Today, I honor all U.S. servicemen/women and veterans of all wars, and especially my late father, Ted, The Baffled King, a veteran of  WWII, USMC, VMTB 131, Guadalcanal, Guam and Okinawa. Where you went sounds very scenic. I live in Southern Michigan, where it is mostly industrial (auto industry-related) with some rural areas thrown in. I'm not a big fan of the check cashing places, but where brand new strip malls were put in, they were a considerable improvement over the dirty, dingy abandoned factory buildings and hodge-podge store fronts when they were designed to be more pleasing to the eye. Interestingly enough, I recently found out that Interstate 94 that goes through where I live, used to be part of the Underground Railroad before the Civil War.

Alabama is a beautiful state. I have always wanted to see Michigan and have never been there. I think it would be fascinating to see what is left of the Underground Railroad sites too.

It is hard to capture the beauty of the South with words--I am going to try and post some pics of the area once I figure out how :)
