"Moonshine" is very strong, clear alcohol, usually cooked and then distilled from corn and other ingredients, using pots and copper tubing. These were called "stills". Alcohol was illegal in Winston and Walker counties so "busting stills" was what the state and county revenue agents did, and what her son, David Arnold, did for a while. He is another story unto himself. She was remarkable indeed.

PS--The men often cooked the mash at night, so as not to be seen; hence the name, "moonshine".
