I can see lights at the end of the tunnel. Yes, lights.

I have two more classes and my capstone project, left on my master's. The lowest grade I've received was a B. I'm so freaking close. My school has a scholarship I can apply for now so I'm definitely doing that. It would be a huge help. Grad school debt is no joke ( Read more... )

Looks like it will be a good year for you. How far is Madigan from where you are from? I hope that the move goes well for you. Congrats on being close to getting your Masters.

Thanks! Madigan is the hospital on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. It's about 11 hours to drive from here to there. We do that drive for Christmas though. We'll live about an hour from my parents, in the town I lived in as an undergrad.

That's great that you will be so close to home. I remember being so happy to move to back to VA after having lived in Japan.

Wooohoooooo! Did Sam get to pick that or was he assigned? Is this his last tour? Moving back to Oly?

YAY! June will come...not fast enough, but you will survive and be back in an area near friends and family (and Steve. Ha!) Best news ever!

YAY FOR SAM, MIKI AND TIVS!

This should be his last duty station before he retires. He picked it about as much as he can pick where he goes. There are only so many spots for E8s in his MOS, and he's been telling everyone he wants this spot since we got here.

We cannot wait to get the hell out of here. We're looking in the Lacey/Oly area yeah. We like it down there, but we might move up north when he gets out...depends on where we find work.

Sativa is gonna get to see her friend monster again. I'm super happy for her. Hopefully we find a place with a fenced yard.

Is he definitely getting out, or riding it out til they give him the boot? I think if you're heading back to Oly area, where both of you like it that retiring at that point be good idea!

My only concern for Sam is traffic heading north from Oly to Tacoma in the mornings...could be ugly I imagine! I'm really happy for you both (and Tivs, of course.)

He's getting out when his current committment is over. He would only reenlist if he were getting promoted again, but he said that's another huge committment. He'd have to stay in a lot longer and go to sergeant major school. Plus, there would be another couple duty stations and possible deployment. I really think he's just done. His schooling is paid for, Kyrstin's is paid for, and it's just time to settle somewhere. The Army would only boot him if he was no longer promotable for some reason.

The traffic through the nisqually basin can be tough sometimes, but he did it the last time we lived there. And it's nothing like the traffic in San Antonio.
