One of my biggest pet peeves is lateness. When you are late, you're telling the people waiting for you that they don't matter. That your time is more important than theirs.
It's also a cultural thing to be fair. It IS rude though, especially when everyone has a cell phone and can easily let you know through a ten second text.
Not with the people who inspired this post. My mom and brother are always late. Like 30 minutes at least. Like today, my brother didn't get out of bed until five minutes before my mom got there to pick them up and come down here (So, 12:55pm). They were an hour later than we thought they'd be and no one called or texted.
If you agree to be somewhere at a certain time, be there. Take things like traffic into account. And if something happens, yeah, call or text. It's common courtesy.
