History:
"I'll do what I want till the end. Cut me down if you want."Personality: Generally serious and levelheaded, Gray carries all typical attributes of a Fairy Tail mage in his heart. He is stubborn, loyal to a fault, pretty eccentric in his own way and prone to property destruction.
Originally motivated to learn magic by the death of his parents to the demon Deliora, Gray was driven - almost consumed - by the thought of learning enough magic to defeat him and take hie revenge and is reckless enough to challenge him, when he discovered the demon's whereabouts about a year or two after starting his training. However the sacrifice of his teacher Ur, did indeed 'seal his darkness' as it was her intention. Ever since he has tried to be aware of the consequences to his actions.
He has been a member of Fairy Tail for at very least eight to nine years and is utterly loyal to the guild and all its members, no matter how well he knows them or how long they have been part of the guild. If someone is part of the guild, he will do anything and everything to defend or help them, should it be required of him. He declared as much out loud when the guild was attacked by Phantom Lord and Lucy was kidnapped ("Sorry, but it doesn't matter if you're a woman or even a child. I don't go easy on anybody who hurts my comrades.", "Lucy's our comrade. I won't hand her over even if I die.")
Despite his usually serious and laid back manner, Gray is more than capable of getting fired up and competitive when challenged, especially if Natsu is around. The two of them share a fierce and but friendly rivalry, that might seem like mutual dislike (probably caused by them wielding opposing elements - ice and fire, respectively - as noted by Lucy and Erza). Even so they are very important to each other, Natsu telling Gray off when he considers sacrificing himself in order to defeat Lyon and later Deliora and Gray getting Natsu out of various tight spots such as when he was swallowed by Fukuro in the Tower of Paradise arc.
He has a similar close relationship to Erza, though that one is originally motivated by fear that rivalry, as she has beaten him up several times in the past when he behaves in a way she considers inappropriate (ie. fighting Natsu, running around in his underwear, ect); it's a running gag of the series to see him and Natsu fight behind her back and suddenly be all best friends when she is looking again. However, he is far from afraid to speak his mind to her, if he considers the matter important - for example, he dares her to cut him down to keep him from continuing the mission on Galuna Island.
While usually calm, seemingly arrogant in battle - mouthing off rather crudely no matter what opponent - his temper still tends to show, especially when his comrades are threatened or Fairy Tail, one of his comrades or Ur are insulted. He shows the same boundless determination as all members of his guild, standing up and fighting even though he should be well beyond his limits.
All in all, Gray is a pretty nice guy - serious, but friendly and welcoming towards newcomers in their guild, creative in his use of magic, sometimes rude, sarcastic and quick to annoy or anger (especially when Natsu is involved), absolutely loyal and as much a derp as the rest of his guild, considering that he doesn't even notice himself stripping off his cloths most of times.
Strengths:
M A G I C A L: Like all of the series main characters, Gray is a mage. While it is implied that mages are capable of mastering different kinds of magic, the only kind Gray has ever been seen using is Ice-Make, a form of elemental creation magic. Ice-Make allows Gray to create ice out of nothing and shape it to his will. Considering that Gray seems to be very much able to keep up with Natsu in a fight and is nominated for the S class trials, he can be considered as pretty powerful.
Gray specializes in Static Ice-Make and shapes his ice to inanimate objects such as several forms of weapons, shields, cages, ect. He is able to form pretty much any shape or make ice copies with the exact same proportions (such as when he forms an ice key for the dragon chain cannon). While his magic is usually activated by certain hand movements, it also appears to be tied to his emotions - there are several instances where he freezes the air around his right first and arm in anger. His ice appears to be more durable than normal ice and he has been shown able to freeze other fluids such as blood (though he needs to freeze that fluid; he can't create it out of nothing). His training with Ur has also left him pretty much unaffected by almost any temperature except very, very great heat.
Next to the basic Freeze ability and the more complex Ice-Make magic, Gray is also able to use Iced Shell, a powerful and extremely dangerous spell that turns the user's body into ice and allows them to seal their target for all eternity. However Gray has sworn never to consider using it again, as he would rather live with his comrades than cause them sorrow by sacrificing himself.
P H Y S I C A L: Showing all signs of a typical Shonen hero, Gray proves to be extremely agile, strong and durable - often lasting beyond his limits in a fight and even able to take out four lightning lacrima and deal with the backlash after being defeated by Bixlow not much of an hour before that. He has shown to be an expert in hand to hand combat and doesn't necessarily need to use magic in order to take out non- or weak mages. He is also very capable in his use of his various weapons - he is just as competent with swords and other bladed weapons as he is with bow and arrow.
He also seem almost absolutely unaffected by temperature, since he a. doesn't notice himself stripping off his cloths and b. doesn't notice his state of clothlessness until it is pointed out to him.
M E N T A L: As already mentioned, Gray does in most cases use his head before rushing into a fight. For example when Erza sends Natsu after Erigor to stop him from using Lullaby (a magical flute, which brings death to everyone who hears it's tune) at the Oshibana Train Station, Gray realizes quickly that the best way to cause the most damage would be using the loudspeaker system and goes there in order to intercept the dark mage.
He tries very hard to approach difficult situations with caution and a level head, acting a little underhanded if required. (During the S-Class Exam's second task he has no problem to simply hide, wait and follow Lucy and Kana, as he and Loke figure that Lucy is the one most likely to find out the location of the first Fairy Tail Master Mavis' grave. Also, when Urtear tries to trick him into using Iced Shell on Hades in order to take out both of them, he initially pretends to go along with her in order to lay low and catch her off guard to uncover her true motives.)
Gray used to be rather prone to self-sacrifice, most likely due the events surrounding Ur's death (during the Galuna Island Arc, he attempts to use Iced Shell twice, the first time to stop Lyon, the second to protect everyone else), however since being told off by Natsu, he has come to value his own life as much as he does that of his nakama ("I swore I would never use that magic again. No matter what kind of will Ur has... I have my own will. I want to walk the path where I can live with my comrades! ").
Weaknesses:
M A G I C A L: While Gray's Ice Magic is very durable and equal to Natsu's Fire, it is most likely to melt when pitched against someone with stronger fire magic than Natsu. But even though it is very durable, all Gray's ice is vulnerable to the effects of other people's magic - it softened through Sugar Boy's Rosa Espada in Edolas and disappeared when Ultear used the Arc of Time on it (since she uses her magic to fast forward time until it has melted). The only notable exception to this is ice made of blood, since most magic in Fairy Tail cannot directly affect anything living.
While Gray has much magic power to call on (as much as Erza and Natsu respectively), after long battles (especially if there was more than one without any chance to take a break and rest) he tends to run out of it, leaving him unable to call upon any magic until it is restored again.
P H Y S I C A L: As much of a Shonen hero Gray might be, he still has physical limits (although they are rather stretched). He bleeds when wounded, gets exhausted, often just stubborn enough to keep himself from collapsing on the spot until he has won the fight.
M E N T A L: For all his levelheadedness, Gray still has a hell of a temper. Insult his guild or threaten his comrades and he just might throw all care away and just attack with all he has got. When Fairy Tail goes to wage war on Phantom Lord, he is among those refusing to stop fighting even after Master Makarov is defeated and Erza calls for retreat.
Also, while he tends to show a little more insight to people and situations than Natsu, he still can be pretty damn utterly obvious, especially in regards of romance - he doesn't seem to have any idea about Jubia's crush on him, even though she pretty much worships the ground he walks on (though he seems to be catching on a little, lately).

So I guess, I'm stuck here now. ...Same as everyone else, right?
...
I guess when that's the alternative to being annihilated by some weird ass dragon, I'm down with it. For now anyways.
I can't help wondering though; what do people actually do around here? I haven't seen any guilds yet... or is there anything like a general request board or something here? Or do you just use this journal thing?
Just kind of wondering, you know... Can't take a break forever, or else my skills will get rusty.
Also, uhh... has anyone seen my cloak around somewhere? Or my shirt? I kinda... lost... them while wandering around.
Third Person: It took a while until Gray could motivate himself to do anything but groan upon awakening; the injuries from fighting first Urtear, then Hades still throbbed slightly beneath the bandages, forcing out what little magic he had managed to regain since to take on that dragon (what had the old man called it? Acnowlogia?) and then help Fried with his defense spell definitely hadn't helped any either.
Still... he needed to get up... needed to see what had happened, what damage that dragon had caused to their guild's sacred island. Needed to make sure that everyone else had made it too.
Groaning a second time, he concentrated his energy on rolling from his back to his belly... and pushing himself up into sitting position from there. Forcing his eyes open, he braced himself for all the destruction he expected to find around him - just like his home town, just like when Deliora had come and destroyed everything and everyone he had known at that point - only to find himself... in an seemingly untouched forest?
Blinking in shock at his environment, Gray leaned towards the trunk near to his side and used it to pull himself to his feet, groaning again as his world lost focus for just a second, then gritting his teeth and pushing away all that pain and confusion. His comrades were around here somewhere - they had to be, hadn't they? - they surly were in about as bad shape as he was.
(Surely, they had to be alright too... right?)
"Oi... Natsu... Erza.... Lucy... everyone! Where are you guys?!" he called out slightly hoarse, as he stumbled around in his search for them, growing more and more worried by the minute when nobody answered him.
Finally he let himself fall back to sit on a boulder; confusion, worry and just a tiny bit of fear racing though him (They couldn't be... they couldn't! Surly he wasn't the only one who... not again). He let his gaze drift absently as he tried to figure out what to do now, snapping back to reality when he suddenly saw some kind of book (a journal?) lying innocently right in the middle of the clearing he had woken up at.
...Just what was that doing there?
