quick launch panel

The volume adjuster seems to have vanished from the quick launch panel at the bottom of the screen of my Vaio. It's the only way I know to adjust the volume of the computer overall so if someone could tell me how to restore it (and also just how to restore anything that disappears from that menu) I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

If your vaio is like mine, use fn and f2 to mute/unmute, fn and f3 to turn down and fn and f4 to turn up. No idea how to restore the quick launch, though.

I'm afraid I don't have a Vaio so I can't help with the quick-launch panel, but does your keyboard have a key that says 'fn'? It might be on the same row as your spacebar. If it's there, hold it down and press 'page up' for volume up and 'page down' for volume down. The 'End' key is to mute sound. If it works it could be a temporary solution until someone clever comes along and helps you out.
