No, they didn't change - I really didn't notice anything! I watch in high definition on a ginormous plasma TV screen, so if I couldn't pick it up after a couple times rewinding, I don't know who could!
That said, he did have his eyes closed a long time. His eyes easily could have changed while they were closed, then reverted back, if his eyes do something in the first place! :D
I feel like they would have wanted us to know if they'd changed, though because that's pretty important. If they'd gone yellow, it would have made him the property of Azazel, but this way, I think they're emphasizing the fact that the powers are a part of the Sam we know and have grown to love.
Also, I gotta say, it's ballsy as hell to close your eyes when you're near a demon who's not in a devil's trap. And I loved how out in the parking lot when they were leaving the diner together Sam was like (if I remember correctly) I've killed loads of demons, almost like a kid saying, 'look what I can do!'
At the beginning, I was like, WTF, they didn't burn and salt Dean? Because they sure as hell did John!
Oh! I totally forgot about the iPod part, but that was Jason Manns that was playing and I totally LOL'ed at that part. I thought Dean said "soup her up" but my hearing is awful, and "douche her up" sounds more like Dean. I've been to about 50 too many concerts and have to ask everyone to repeat things, haha.
I also hate this new Ruby. I just posted some thoughts in my journal about how she could have at least picked up some of Katie's mannerisms or something. I did like the diner parallel scene, though.
I totally agree about Sam's hair, though I only really liked his hair in the first season. Jared's forehead is way too large for his current hairstyle. I mean, obviously!
Jared's forehead is way too large for his current hairstyle. Oh, yeah, it is. What happened to the bangs? Is his hair thinning or something? I want the floppy bangs back! Unless he just really looks to old for them by now.
I had no idea that was Jason Manns but that makes it even funnier. Of course, Bright Eyes would have been even better, especially one of those songs where he really sounds like he's just talking and his voice is just like this miserable warbling thing, but yeah...Manns is good, too. XD Ten bucks says Dean starts uploading stuff onto that ipod by midseason.
I knew about the beginning because I was spoiled but yeah...the way Sam put him about a foot underground in a shitty little box in the middle of nowhere with a rough-hewn cross he maybe gnawed himself I think just went to show you that Sam really didn't think Dean was going to stay dead. Actually, I love that Sam can't really save anyone this episode, despite how powerful he is. He doesn't save Dean and he doesn't save that girl in the diner. Powers
( ... )
I guess he was supposed to look like a sad puppy or something. Or maybe we're just reading too much into it and it's just hair, haha.
Jason Manns seems like an odd choice of music, and I'm sure it was used because Jensen pulled for it or something. Bright Eyes does seem more like what Sam would listen to while he sulked in his failure to bring Dean back.
Yeah, I figured Sam wouldn't have the heart to burn Dean. It would be too final, though rising from the ashes would've been even more significant.
LOL i agree with you about the Ruby part. and yeah, the line you were quoting, i was also thinking the same thing! although, as a whole, i don't like the character, so i guess maybe i'm biased against whoever is playing her?
I like that Dean returns, and that he is the (almost) the same Dean that we all know and love, but i thought that maybe, in the future eppys, he might actually be special in some way that we don't know how? why would God ask him to be save then? and i also hope they don't go to deep on the religious aspect of it.
That's the thing, I loved the character and was pissed off, too. I don't think you're biased, I just think she's a bad actress.
I mean, they've already gone religious with Lilith and Azazel, so I think it's kind of impossible for them to pull out now. I was surprised that they actually used God here, but they have referred to Lucifer before so I don't see it as being much different than that. I'm kinda hoping Dean's special, too, though I just loved that Castiel was like, 'I thought maybe you were one of the special ones who could handle it...but you're not.'' LOL.
Or Dean could be in denial about that. I mean, in terms of doing stuff for God nobody has to be special. That's the point--God puts mortals above angels, even, so it makes far more sense for God to pull totally flawed guy out of hell to put to work than any super special guy with powers.
But that said, since we're just talking about the ability to look an angel in the face or hear his voice, I wondered if Dean actually could but can't now because he's so against the whole idea even unconsciously? It just seems like that would be so symbolic and not just about being born with a power. Like Dean needs to get to the point where he can admit that he can look at an angel's face.
Or I could be completely wrong because oops! I don't really watch the show! It was just what I thought on seeing it.
Might be obvious but...crookshankshgSeptember 19 2008, 18:33:06 UTC
I was wondering if this Dean being saved by god thing might have to do with Sammy - like Dean said in the season final something about Sammy wanting to be evil demon bitch boy when he wanted to learn the magic or telekinesis or whatever....maybe Sammy is unlocking something that should have stayed buried. What if the reason god saved Dean was to stop Sam....I mean what about the Lilith thing - Sammy is immune to her? HUH? isnt she suppose to be a bad mamajamma.....To you all who hate the new Ruby ---- you are so right....she sucks as an actress - bad...I mean the only thing shes got going for her is that she is hot.....I mean I loved the chick who played Ruby last season she was perfect - even when Lilith possessed her was awesome...I mean "I dont take orders from Puppy Chow!" and she was just a good actress and had debth to play an evil bitch - this new chick in the future she should not be allowed to talk....Cant they bring back the old Ruby I mean Dean was rotting for 4 months that they said and he looks oh so hot and yummy!
Especially about Ruby. That girl was terrible. More than terrible. And was that her in the beginning of the episode in Sam's hotel room? I need to watch it again. And if so, ew.
hee! The iPod! And Dean's face when he turned the car on. I could have died. :D
DID YOU SEE THE SHAKING? When Sam first saw Dean - I don't care that maybe it might have been anger that a demon was using his brother's face. I'm choosing to believe it was overwhelming happiness. sigh. NO ONE HUGS LIKE THEM. They are gold medalist huggers.
I think that was a different girl. I dunno, for some reason, I can't see Ruby wanting to bother sleeping with Sam, she's almost...a-sexual in a way. But yeah, yeah, I WANT MY KATIE BACK, PLS.
I DID NOT SEE THIS SHAKING EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT AND WISH I HAD! But yes, they do hug like none other - and Dean's really sweet, soft little smile when he said that thing about looking good. I don't think I've actually seen a look that tender cross his face before....
I do not get New!Ruby. During the diner scene with Sam I was watching for Katie!Mannerisms. And WTF at some of her lines. She does not sound like Ruby at all. And if "I wouldn't want to get in between you and your brother." was meant to be sarcastic, then she needs to practice her sarcastic voice.
Also....Castiel's kinda cute. :) *starts waiting for the slash fic to roll in* We've already got deancastiel :D!
And I love the way the girl was even more weirded out when she found out they were brothers. That girl was Ruby, right? So I assume she must have been faking it?
I was *this* close to making yayarms when I saw the bowlegs :D

Question: Ok, Sam's eyes didn't change colors, right? 'Cause I thought that was what it looked like but it was dark and I couldn't tell.
