Sometimes I think I'm just not cut out to write fanfic, and generally at those times, I just go read porn. But GAH, I was assigned this Pansy/Ginny fic, like, 2 months ago, and I just cannot write it. And this is very distressing for some reason. Literally, I think I've started it 20 times and I've gotten maaaaaybe a page or two in before just ( Read more... )

I don't read fanfic so I don't know how sage my advice will actually be, but I have to imagine in the majority of pre-existing Pansy/Ginny fiction, it has to be overwhelmingly Dom!Pansy. I say avoid that shit. *I* say focus on emotional intimacy. You could draw off the idea of readers finding Draco crying in the boys room in HBP. Now Draco is gone from the school, Pansy's all alone, she must be very sad. Ginny's a sensitive girl -- would she really leave someone alone who she found all distressed?

I don't know if it had to include girl-sex, but if it does than that seems like a good set up to ME, but I just watch a lot of porn.

Hurt comfort all the way. :) And yeah, I have no idea why people would have Pansy as the Dom because Ginny's just a far more dominating personality anyway. In every scenerio I've imagined, she's totally the one wearing the pants, as it were. Sort of. Like you say, she's very sensitive, and so I think that while she likes to come off as tough, she'd actually be very vulnerable at times, but she has issues letting herself be that vulnerable (liiiiiiike any self-respecting Gryffindor. :P), and I feel like Pansy would see that and would see her lying to herself and would totally call her on it.

Back to the drawing board. But thanks for the advice. I wonder. Maybe I could use Myrtle somehow. I never thought about it but she, better than anyone, would probably know what Draco's task was last year. hmmmmmmm.

It could just be a thing. Although, I've been having trouble with original stuff, lately, too, so...

And yes, YES IT WAS!

Cheer up, if they cut 'Weasley is Our King' (I think I'm the only person who's happy about that. I mean, I liked that Ron got his moment in the sun, but it was so frigging cliche - we turned their song against them! - like a Sweet Valley High subplot.), they've cut New!Ginny's awesome Quidditch talent, right? (God, I hate Quidditch. If someone other than Gryffindor won, it might have the tiniest amount of suspense, even if the rules are totally pointless; but the endless faux-underdog vibe is beyond a joke.

Good luck with your fic!

Well, but, no, it's like the moment where Draco is most Draco, that's why it needs to be there (says the crazy Draco fan...). It would have made him look a bit more clever than the oafish bully who gets all flustered when someone calls him 'pathetic' (wow, wow, how mad did that make me? Like, 'well, we can't show the Gryffindor Golden Child actually making a rude remark about someone's mother, let's just have Malfoy get overly-pissed about a really lame comment so that it's all his fault twice over!!'), too. Although, YES, it is nice that, like, half of Ginny's whole Super Awesome makeover is getting cut out, but then I get the feeling they'll find some way to mention it, like, I don't know, having Pansy say, "Gee gosh and golly, I wish I could be as good as Ginny at Quidditch!" Or something. *cries*

Thanks!

Oh, god, yes, that sucked. It was just like a Sue fanfic, where they 'tell off' Malfoy (or Ron, depending on the Sue type. If it's Ginny in canon, then both!) and he's inexplicably embarrassed. (I also like Harry saying 'ZOMG, Lucius is cruel!' as if that's what offends his sensibilities - doesn't Book!Harry find it hilarious that Lucius is a jerk, since he'll bitch out his son?)

Wonder if they'll keep in Harry slagging off Seamus' mom in OOTP? Doubtlessly there must be some scene of Draco criticising St. Lily, though.
Or maybe they'll cut the Quidditch pitch fight, like they do a lot of the stuff that makes Harry and the Twins look bad; and just have the twins' brooms taken for something else (it really has to be their brooms if they're going to have the break-out scene, which is very cinematic; even though I loathe the Twins.)

Probably it will be something else for the twins. Maybe Draco will randomly start insulting Harry and Co. in the halls with no motivation whatsoever. And he'll get in Mrs. Weasley, too, so it looks like the Twins actually have a reason to come into that fight. Even though it'll still be 3-on-1. How IS that going to look good? Especially when Draco's the only one who comes out of it with any injuries? Maybe he'll somehow learn Judo on the spot so that somehow Harry and the Twins get roughed up, too. And no, they're totally going to cut Harry saying anything bad at all about Seamus's mom unless she actually comes up to him on the train platform and physically assaults him while calling him a Mudblood or something. I mean, it's bad enough to insult a Slytherin's mom; a Gryffindor's would just be beyond the pale for our Golden Boy Hero (I nearly typed Herpes there and am now giggling insanely :D)

I think Harry is amused by Lucius Malfoy at some point where we see him with Draco. Which is funny since he tried to get Harry's ( ... )
